Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
1280.com sold recently for 26,100 USD at NameJet, vs 1,600 USD on 2008-07-30 at Afternic. Around 14x return after commission. Shouldn’t be too big of a surprise if you’ve been following numerics.
JZ.tv sold recently for 6,800 USD at NameJet, vs 400 USD on 2011-03-24 at SnapNames. Another 14x after commission.
PZ.tv sold recently for 5,000 USD at NameJet, vs 510 USD on 2011-01-21 at Sedo.
QQQ.cc sold recently for 5,700 USD at Sedo, vs 600 USD on 2009-12-02 at GoDaddy.
TMCS.com sold recently for 2,377 USD at NameJet, vs 660 USD on 2012-02-27 at NameJet.
JEJO.com sold recently for 3,161 USD at GoDaddy, vs 1,205 USD on 2013-05-20 at GoDaddy. No idea what the image below is supposed to signify.
Flops
OnDomains.com sold recently for 171 USD at GoDaddy, vs 2,050 USD on 2013-05-16 at GoDaddy. I’m sure the buyer two years ago had big plans. Plans which didn’t include selling it for a 90% loss.
MedicalSoftware.com sold recently for 5,300 USD at NameJet, vs 17,500 USD on 2009-05-14 at Afternic.
DigitalYou.com sold recently for 2,390 USD at GoDaddy, vs 3,000 USD on 2009-11-18 at Sedo.
GlassVases.com sold recently for 898 USD at GoDaddy, 3,982 USD on 2012-05-30 at NameJet. Product domains aren’t what they used to be.
EstatePlanning.net sold recently for 500 USD at Flippa, vs 795 USD on 2015-04-14 at NameJet. Think it’s easy to buy on one platform and then quickly flip it on Flippa? This person probably thought so too.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
