Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
FireSafety.com sold for 36,200 USD recently at NameJet, vs 13,000 USD on 2013-12-19 at NameJet. Nice return for a keyword domain in 2 1/2 years considering the purchase and sale was on the same domainer marketplace. Picked up by Dharshinee Naidu, who added it to his pile of 90,000+ domains.
SeoFirms.com sold for 2,995 USD recently at Flippa, vs 749 USD on 2015-12-02 at NameJet. The first of two solid flips with a hold around six months.
CowboyCasual.com sold for 2,000 USD recently at NameJet, vs 510 USD on 2015-12-23 at GoDaddy.
PTHD.com sold for 1,500 USD recently at NameJet, vs 121 USD on 2013-04-09 at SnapNames. Same statement as nearly every week: the LLLL.com flips when the hold is longer than a year are typically profitable, while the shorter hold times often result in a money losing flop, as evidenced by JMPB.com and DKKK.com below.
ASPN.com sold for 2,050 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,008 USD on 2013-12-26 at NameJet.
Scentium.com sold for 10,000 USD recently at Sedo, vs 5,000 USD on 2010-10-13 at Sedo. The buyer upgraded from Scentium-Flavors.com, and you can see a screenshot of their site below. “Scentium is the flavours brand of the Iberchem Corporation, the biggest Spanish company in the fragrances and flavours industry.”

Flops
UIO.com sold for 21,600 USD recently at Sedo, vs 30,600 USD on 2015-11-05 at NameJet. Ouch…losing over $10k after commission in half a year is not the goal of domaining….
DKKK.com sold for 3,800 USD recently at NameJet, vs 6,050 USD on 2015-12-15 at Sedo. A nearly 50% loss after commission in half a year. See my LLLL.com comments above for PTHD.com.
JMPB.com sold for 1,500 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,600 USD on 2016-03-29 at NameJet.
Lock.co sold for 2,450 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 10,000 USD on 2014-03-19 at Sedo.
NCG.net sold for 2,000 USD recently at NameJet, vs 3,124 USD on 2016-03-09 at GoDaddy. The first of several LLL.net domains with a big loss from their purchase earlier in 2016.
MXQ.net sold for 1,777 USD recently at NameJet, vs 3,000 USD on 2016-03-02 at NameJet.
KGB.net sold for 1,676 USD recently at NameJet, vs 3,305 USD on 2016-03-09 at GoDaddy.
Ascent.net sold for 146 USD recently at NameJet, vs 4,750 USD on 2014-05-28 at GoDaddy. The value of .net domains is definitely not on the ascent….
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
