Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with recent data courtesy of DN Journal and historical data from NameBio.
Flips
- Xiao.com – Sold recently for $97,857 via FindYourDomain, vs $67,566 in January of this year at NameJet. A tidy $30k profit before commission. Domain is parked, and Whois shows a Jinmei Wu of China as the current owner.
- SexAffairs.com – Sold recently for $2,000 at Sedo, vs $300 in 2011 at SnapNames. Domain is under privacy protection, and a simple placeholder is live, but it doesn’t reveal anything about what is in the works.
- JobMove.com – Sold recently for $3,000 at Sedo, vs $1,900 in 2008 at Afternic. A placeholder is live, which says in part, “JobMove simplifies recruiting” and “JobMove manages your talent pool“. Current owner is Eyass Shakrah of Sweden, with a Faris.vc email address, which ties to Faris Ventures, “Faris Ventures is a privately held investor and operator of technology ventures targeting emerging markets.“
Flops
- No flops to be found this week……..
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
