Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
LiveSupport.com sold for 18,100 USD recently at Flippa, vs 8,500 USD on 2004-10-21 at Afternic. If this closes, kudos to the seller for their perseverance; this had been listed a couple times at Flippa, but pricing previously hadn’t gotten close to this level.
SexPack.com sold for 3,965 USD recently at Sedo, vs 1,112 USD on 2014-07-01 at Sedo. I don’t know what a sex pack is, and I’m afraid to Google it.
WJK.net sold for 3,026 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 480 USD on 2012-06-21 at GoDaddy.
Charla.com sold for 2,500 USD recently at Flippa, vs 1,250 USD on 2016-03-25 at Flippa. Nice double (before commissions) in three months.
DSFF.com sold for 1,300 USD recently at NameJet, vs 135 USD on 2009-04-27 at GoDaddy.
Flops
Based on the venues for the historical acquisitions, I’m guessing most of the flops below relate to business ideas which never took off, including TickTockTime.com, and you can see an old screenshot for that site below.
TeachTech.com sold for 1,125 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 3,060 USD on 2012-03-14 at Afternic.
SpecialPay.com sold for 515 USD recently at NameJet, vs 4,700 USD on 2014-02-02 at Afternic.
GoCharter.com sold for 465 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 6,500 USD on 2013-05-20 at Afternic. This was previously used to redirect to a page on Charter.com, a phone / internet / cable provider.
TickTockTime.com sold for 165 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 1,500 USD on 2014-02-11 at Sedo.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
