Domain Spotlight:

Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.

Flips

PRTimes.com sold for 20,000 USD recently at Sedo, vs 310 USD on 2015-08-24 at NameJet. Awesome 50x after commission in a little over a year. Domain is still showing in transfer at Sedo.

K6.io sold for 3,000 USD recently at TLDPros.com, vs 104 USD on 2016-06-22 at Park.io. Return of 24x in half a year? I’d take it.

AppSky.com sold for 2,850 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 563 USD on 2015-12-30 at GoDaddy. The buyer appears to be a domainer with over 1,500 domains, which is a little surprising that they’re on the buying end of around a 5x return in a year.

CapitalMerchant.com sold for 2,250 USD recently at BuyDomains, vs 129 USD on 2016-06-09 at NameJet. Yet another example of a nice quick flip from BuyDomains.

UXMO.com sold for 2,225 USD recently at GoDaddy, 460 USD on 2016-01-05 at GoDaddy. Although I’m not active in this space, pronounceable 4L seem to have become more popular over the last year, in a shift from CHIP focus, which may be the cause of this 5x return in a year.

Flops

Recent.net sold for 590 USD recently at NameJet, vs 3,000 USD on 2011-02-10 at Sedo. Any .net flop is no surprise these days.

BrandAuthority.com sold for 898 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,000 USD on 2009-08-26 at Afternic.

CompetitiveIntelligence.com sold for 2,512 USD recently at NameJet, vs 35,477 USD on 2014-12-24 at Sedo. Yikes! Over a $30k loss. The business must have gone awry……a 2015 screenshot is below.

Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
