Before the domains, a quick picture from a 51 mile trail run yesterday in beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado. It’s good to be humbled every now and then, and this event certainly fit the bill. 🙂
Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
GGMS.com sold for 1,800 USD recently at eBay, vs 379 USD on 2010-10-02 at GoDaddy. This LLLL.com and four more below were a small part of Tim Schoon’s recent sale via Ebay (nice article here), and while he didn’t hit the top of the market, he still made an excellent profit on most of his names, and he owns a bunch more LLLL.com that he hasn’t sold. All those listed here are between 3x – 7x return before any Ebay fees.
SBBF.com sold for 1,526 USD recently at eBay, vs 210 USD on 2011-01-17 at NameJet.
SCND.com sold for 1,500 USD recently at eBay, vs 409 USD on 2012-05-21 at NameJet.
CPBP.com sold for 1,425 USD reccently at eBay, vs 295 USD on 2008-06-29 at GoDaddy.
SBDT.com sold for 1,301 USD recently at eBay, vs 230 USD on 2010-11-02 at NameJet.
Kaffe.com sold for 11,451 USD recently at Sedo, vs 4,100 USD on 2011-08-28 at NameJet. Still showing in transfer at Sedo; an upgrade name for many sites.
OJJ.com sold for 21,110 USD recently at NameJet, vs 8,600 USD on 2008-01-24 at Sedo.
Nasaco.com sold for 14,500 USD recently at Sedo, vs 243 USD on 2013-01-28 at SnapNames. Appears to have been picked up by NASA Corporation of Japan.
Flops
ExercisePlans.com sold for 650 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,606 USD on 2010-02-23 at SnapNames.
NativeSpeakers.com sold for 898 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,500 USD on 2008-03-25 at Afternic.
FameFashion.com sold for 270 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 3,888 USD on 2013-07-29 at Afternic.
CollegeReview.com sold for 9,501 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 32,500 USD on 2010-04-22 at Afternic. Ouch, a loss of over $20k. They gave a go at a lead gen site (screenshot below from 2010, courtesy of Archive.org), but things must not have panned out.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
