Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
Worse.com sold for 10,001 USD recently at NameJet, vs 5,500 USD on 2015-10-13 at Sedo. Solid 50% return after commission in a year. It’s a one word .com, but not alot of commercial applications come to my mind.
Foal.com sold for 10,000 USD recently at NameJet, vs 7,800 USD on 2012-08-21 at NameJet. This one was much thinner…..under a 10% return in a four year hold.
QTQQ.com sold for 3,000 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,650 USD on 2015-09-30 at Sedo. All those Q’s used to be nearly worthless…..not anymore.
CRYD.com sold for 1,400 USD recently at Flippa, vs 125 USD on 2011-11-30 at GoDaddy.
VHH.net sold for 3,388 USD recently at Sedo, vs 333 USD on 2013-08-29 at NameJet.
Flops
GoodJobs.com sold for 9,988 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 15,766 USD on 2013-10-19 at NameJet. Job domains sell well….but you still have to buy it at the right price.
SmartCamera.com sold for 4,205 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 29,200 USD on 2012-05-31 at GoDaddy. Ouch…..loss over $25k. This domain used to forward to SamsungCamera.com.
Safe.co sold for 1,838 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 2,800 USD on 2012-01-13 at Sedo.
WeSet.com sold for 876 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 10,000 USD on 2015-06-16 at Sedo. That’s a heck of a loss in a little over a year.
HomeLTD.com sold for 555 USD recently at DropCatch, vs 2,388 USD on 2011-10-05 at Afternic. Previously developed as a home/apartment rental business (screenshot below), but things must not have panned out.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
