Domain Name Fail: Ferreth and Jobs, PA or Just Someone Having Fun?

ferret_beerAccording to the site, Ferreth and Jobs is law firm that deals in litigation, patents, incorporation and I’m sure many more legal dealings.   Michael Ferreth and William Jobs may be successful in the field of law but they may need some help choosing their domain name.  They went with Ferrithandjobs.com which also can be read as Ferret Hand Jobs.  I thought the name was funny unto itself until I went to their page and saw their slogan,  “Is Your Business in the Right Hands”  Sounds like my business is going to be in the hands of a ferret.   Evidently, the guys were tipped off that the domain could be read as something else and here is their response.

In other news, it has come to our attention that the domain name “FerrethAndJobs.com” may be misread by some. We are currently investigating other options, but until then, we plan to continue our current branding in the hopes that clearer heads prevail. Any comments regarding the domain name itself may be directed to the individual who encouraged its use. Questions of corporate law may be directed to our home office (Phone number removed).

The website seemed to be a little too simple and after doing some research, no doubt in my mind it’s a hoax.   I believe it’s a creative way to drive publicity for the domain owner and site developer.  Either way, I got 5 minutes of entertainment out of it.

  1. If it’s a hoax, it’s not even an original concept. PenIsland/PenisLand.com, anyone?

Actually though, there is a real domain name fail right in my own stomping grounds. The Web site for the First Church of the Nazarene in (fittingly enough) New Berlin, Wisconsin is… firstnazinfo.org. I’m guessing their site gets a ton of unwanted search hits and traffic from white supremacist types.
