Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday October 9th, 2017

Escrow.com

How many of you are investing in ICOs?   On one hand I like the idea of being able to invest in new companies.  On the other hand most people are going to get smoked and lose all their money.  I really don’t care about most people.  I have enough friends and family to watch out for, not really interested in being the guy that protects the masses.  There certainly needs to be some regulation when it comes to accepting people’s money. I don’t even think most people know what they are investing in.  All you have to do is say you are going to disrupt some industry with blockchain.

With ICO,  just like bitcoin, you are only going to hear from the people that made money.   Gamblers never check in daily and tell you about their losses.  But you sure as Hell are going to hear about the wins.  The “I’ve been in it a while” but then you check their tweets and there isn’t any past mentions.  That being said, there is money to be made.  And many reading this will make it.  Just do your own diligence.  Unless you are just gambling, and in that case, good luck.  If you do well, feel free tip the poor nurseryman.   Here are today’s names, you have to click to see current price.

  1. You have to separate the companies from the technology. ICO is just another way to raise money. There will always be scam companies no matter which methods they use to raise money. It is up to the investors to do their own due diligence here.

    1. Robert,

I think we all agree the technology is the future. What I see is a lot like 2000 when every company that said the word “Internet based” had money thrown at them. There will
be big money in understanding which companies have a real business model

  2. After yesterday’s blog I thought it would be at least a few days before seeing the words “Bitcoin” and “Blockchain” back here !? lol
    .
I can also tell you that yes .. most (not all) gamblers don’t talk about their losses .. but I’m thinking the same holds very true in the domain industry! 😉

    1. Ategy,

Domain industry is a little different. You never really lose money until you sell and since you never sell you feel like you haven’t lost money.

      1. In some ways I’ll agree with you .. but not completely. Fact of the matter is (based on what I’ve seen at NamePros and other places like former Domain Sherpa Portfolio Reviews) .. that the majority of smaller/newer domainers have garbage domains that will never sell and are losses at purchase. For newcomers with a handful of domains it makes no real difference .. but a lot of new domainers jump in and invest a significant chunk of money (to them), and as such, because of the maintenance cost of renewals I’d say many portfolios are indeed losses before “theoretical” sell because the vast majority (if not all) of their names will never sell.

  3. Shane, I just started investing in crypto the first week of August. im invested in Bitcoin, Ethereum and a bunch of different altcoins. Unfortunately I bought a sizable amount Bitcoin and Ethereum at their all tone highs. Overall I haven’t made money on the altcoins. I did on some but the prices tanked on others and I am holding them. Finally I’m now in profit overall with the price of Bitcoin hovering around the $4600 mark. Of course that’s if I sold today which I won’t. I haven’t invested in ICOs yet. There are a few good ones out there and probably will. For every good one there’s about 10 bad ones. People just need to research the companies. From my limited experience I do think investing in cryptos is a better bet right now than domains. I wish I could sell my domain portfolio which consists of about 4500 names to invest in crypto. It’s hard. Have had lots of domains for auction on namejet and other venues and most are worth thousands. Most fail to get that minimum bid however or fail to meet my reserves which I think are very conservative when I do list with reserves.

  4. I have a good amount of money invested in Crypto. I’ve also purchased a few good CVCV.com on Namepros recently from domainers that wanted the money to invest in Crypto. I think they are both good investments and continue to buy both especially at times like this when all Alt coins seem to be coming down.

BItcoin is killing it because everybody wants the free coins as a result of the upcoming hard forks. This is putting all other Cryptos on sale – even the good ones.

If anyone has some good CVCV.com for sale, let me know.
