Remember when I told you that a major company was going to start offering Private Auctions? Well that day is here. Well, its almost here. Its in beta and its going to disrupt the current auction market. It’s like South Korea and their technology. It was built after everyone else’s so it’s better. The backend is brand new and makes putting up names easy peasy. Anyone can put up a name for sale within minutes. You simply enter your domain, auth code, and reserve (or let it go no reserve) and everything is automatic. The system checks to make sure you aren’t putting up a locked name and also guarantees that the name will get transferred. What if I transfer out before the auction gets finished? The auth code will be pinged regularly and if you move it the auction will be halted. It’s simple, and it works. I am testing it today to see how it works.
So who is doing this that is a “big player”? DropCatch. I put Weed.cc up for auction last night just to get a feel of the system. Took less than a minute to put up. There really shouldn’t be much to putting up a name at auction and there wasn’t. I see a few things that can be added like a choice of exactly what hour to end the auction but those will be added in due time. There are a few other cool add ons coming down the road that I think will put some excitement in to the auctions as well but I’ll talk about that at a later date. Of course I’ll announce when its out of beta and open for everyone. And it will be open for everyone.
This doesn’t mean that Godaddy, Sedo, and Namejet are any less valuable to our industry. They all do a good job. Now they will have to do even better. Congrats to the Reberry brothers on adding another great option to the industry . Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. I Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Very excited to see and use the Dropcatch auction system. Thanks for reporting this.
EthicalOcean.com reminds me of one of the funniest badges I’ve ever seen:
“Nuke the Gay Whales”
.
It’s so wrong that you just can’t help but laugh! lol
.
Anyhow .. also looking forward to the new auction platform. Keep us updated! 🙂
Wow – huge news about Dropcatch. I hope they move quickly to open it up to everyone.
They should payout in btc as an option. The sooner the better.
Overstock announced they are going to accept multiple cc’s!

Steve,
Nothing says market leader like Overstock. BTC is great but its too anonymous and unregulated to be used as real currency. You got one guy moving your markets right now. Spoofy owns you
