Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday November 16th, 2017

Nov 16 2017

Easily the worse investments I ever made where during the Chinese rush.   Not only did I blow $20K on .ws but I blew another $10K on 6Ns.  Fortunately it’s over and I’ve moved on but I am still reminded of it with days like yesterday.  I got about 100 emails from Godaddy “your domain has been canceled” .  It was all my 6Ns with zeros that I let drop.  I check to see if they got any bids at the expiring auctions and nope, nothing.  Truly worthless.   I did make some money buying and selling a few portfolios but when it was all said and done, I undoubtedly lost money.  No sense and making it worse by renewing them.   Just took my losses, pulled up my socks and try and get it back.   But that was real money.  Enough to buy a lot of things.  But its not my worse loss.  I lost $125K in 5 minutes one time trading

This was not even during my trading days.  This was in 2005-2006 days when I was trading options on the side.  My wife and I had just disbanded our investment club we had with other couples and we each got $2K.  I told here that I could double it trading options by the end of the year.   I did a little better.  I got it up to $250,000.  So I took out $2k and put it in the bank. Spent $10,000 on a plasma television (they were new and very expensive) and built in surround sound for my family room. High end audio 🙂    Then I took the rest and put it on Apple options the day before an earning announcement.  I told my wife, “if the earnings are good we are going to have a million dollars, if they are bad we aren’t going to have too much”  They were not good, or at least not good enough for the market

I sold the options for around $100K.  You would think i would remember but I remember after taxes I had $60K left.  My wife asked me why it didn’t bother me (I think she cried a little).  It didn’t bother me because I got there with the same kind of risk I took at the end.  And I got $12K out of the trades even if I lost it all.   No matter what happened I had a hell of a year and was going to have a great bank account or a great story.  Unfortunately it was more story than bank account.

But the .ws and the 6Ns are much much worse to me.  Because I didn’t have the confidence I usually have when I buy yet I did it anyway.  Oh well,  I guess its another story in the journey  Here are today’s domains. Click for current price

Quote of the Day:  ” Imagination is more important than knowledge. Imagination is the language of the soul. Pay attention to you imagination and you’ll have all you need to be fulfilled”  -Albert Einstein

Domain of the Day:    Closes in a few days.  Getting a “Wow!!”  price

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction    CZ is country code for Czech Republic.  I imagine that’s the reason behind all the bids.  Met reserve  I get excited and sad seeing this name and the price.  I had quite a few of these.  Sold for a great profit at $3K     22 bidders on this popular form of a car.  My little deuce     13 bidders know that Colorado is the 16th most vacationed state in the US.  But number one for outdoor activity.      Obvious use of something sharing.  14 bidders   Met reserve so it will sell today.  Work at home, or home renovation   Good name for a broker in our industry.  Another obvious comment.   Decent marketing name for a bar or nightclub.  6 bidders  Great letters but not great enough I can think of what they would stand for  I think its a big enough product group for a manufacturer to own Not a good acronym but easy to remember  Below $200 at press time

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids  WordPress Pros.  1998 domain.  A huge percentage of the Internet is built on WordPress so its a good thing to be a pro at  A CHiP but the XS often stands for Excess so may have a little Western love as well   Delivery or on the water    Just assumed bids were because it was a typo of WebMD. As I look at Google I still think this  Top name on the board today.  Lead gen is alive and well   Because your kid is smarter than all the other kids.   Buy tutor stocks (not investment advice)   5N with double zeros looks to have some good value    I love names like this.  Simple, easy to spell names.  Especially like them if they stay under $100   There are lots of kind trademarks but X will set you apart.  Don’t sell a nutrition bar though   Almost at $1000.   I don’t see it but I do see the bids so I put it up here  Photoshop disasters.  91,000 backlinks being purchased here.   At $1500 so they’re not cheap backlinks  Don’t confuse my bad 6Ns with the patterns that still are giving good returns  VR name.  Can anyone spell Theatre ?  Coins.  That’s enough   Blockchain AND Bitcoin mining?  Million dollar name  Gun lovers love talking and reading about guns.   Gets some traffic  The plural actually is getting all the action for obvious reasons

Godaddy Names With One or No Bids  I feel like I am going to be able to trim a lot of big things with this. No bids   Easy logo, sounds like a restaurant or bar Not much value but good dog name.  Training or supplies

Other Godaddy Names with Bids

Maybe one day 6N’s could make comeback. Gotta figure in future plenty of .123’s and .888’s new Gs. That prospect would hurt market longer term. Or not. New Gs were supposed to cripple two word .coms but that didn’t happen. Three word .coms did get whacked tho.

Thanks for all the great advice. Some hit and some don’t. The fact that you take a chance puts you ahead of 95% of the herd. My 6ns are collecting dust as well, may bounce back but hedging with cc’s has helped a lot.
Lisk jumped past $10 today. Pulled back but wow the sdk is not even released yet. Lots of upside imho.

    Download an wallet to start.
Go to and find a 100% trader.
Buy, rinse and repeat. Once you have a decent amount buy a nano s for cold storage. Never leave a lot on the exchanges or a computer online.
See you on the moon!! 🙂
