Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday September 6th

Escrow.com

A few days ago I bought a domain at auction that used to be a pretty big local site here in our town.  It was an arts and entertainment site for all things local.  Our newspaper has been getting crushed financially (like most papers).  It doesn’t help they had no plan to counter the effects of the internet.  The local talk radio and the paper were left in a will to be run as a non profit.  And boy have they done a great job.  They don’t even try and make a profit. Always pinching pennies.  No clue how to price or compete.   They gouged the people that used their Help Wanted ads.  They knew that local university and many companies by law were required to post job listings.  When the law opened it up to online then everyone moved and stop using the paper.  It was $20 instead of $300.   They had trouble realizing the ONLY reason people read the local paper is to watch our kids sports, to see who died, see who got arrested,  and interesting stories on local businesses and people.  The rest we got online 12 hours ago.   They made no attempt to buy the local sites that had gained traction.  They could have bought them and hired the staff on the cheap.   They’ve tried but recently they have decided to empty their nice radio station and condense the entire company into one floor of a 5 story building.  Their staff is so small it makes sense.   I got their old domain and the traffic is solid. Its a good name by itself but the traffic is great to send to my nursery website.  A few couple thousand of local visitors for free each month.   And free local web traffic is a good thing.  Here are today’s names. Quote of the Day: “Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it” -Unknown

Domains of the Day:   Conjuring.com   Met reserve.  Conjure up some profits

Namejet , DropCatch, and Sedo Names at Auction

Vicariously.com      A word people use quite a bit and the way I like to live.  Would like to see the reserve a bit lower

StudFinder.com  I can’t use one because it goes off all the time when I use it

VQH.com  These lower quality LLL.com have certainly dropped in value but not in use.  Some good value IMO on many.

BEF.com    All comes down to the reserve.  Very good letters

MAAB.com Already met reserve at $333

GetSomewhere.com  I thought it was a good name when it first came up for auction.  Nice to see others agree

ThePunisher.com  Comic fans will like this one

NaturallyDifferent.com  Met reserve at $70.  Marketing name for someone down the road

ThePet.net   The rhyming gives it all the value

Biopas.com   Has a bio engineering feel to it

FTPN.com  I assume it will have a lot more bidders after it moves to public auction.  Only 19 now

TechnologyPortal.com     The name makes it sound old and cool.  Does have some age.

GetReach.com  What every marketer is looking to get

Tarlon.com   A name but really not many people called it.  Still a cool sounding word

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

BodyMedia.com   1999 domain with 13,000 backlinks has this one flying

RRTI.com   1995 on this one.   Age and I for international puts this close to four figures for me.  My opinion only, don’t buy on my opinion or people will yell at me.

KuddleKids.com   It’s cute because its spelled with a K and Kids is also.  16 bids

Midam.org    It’s the trade show I used to go to when I was a kid.  It folded and a new one was formed under a new name

Scorpa.com   Sounds tough, like scorpion

SecondOpinions.org   Rather have the .com but it sounds more helpful on the dot org

Butia.com  Nice 5L getting some bids.   Is also a type of palm

IndustryLeaders.com     Every industry has them.  We just don’t always know who they are

NewsFeeder.com   Definitely a need for a new news feed, blog feed.  Just no money in it

MPXB.com    A CHiP that is about to hit four figures.

8863.cc    How much you think this one is worth?  I bet you will still be surprised by the current and closing price

Flypex.com   Sounds techy.  Other bidders agree

NYLocksmith.com and NYLocksmiths.com  When you need them, you really need them

Domains That I Like With One or No Bids

Brightn.com Still a viable naming convention for startups

Grypo.com Might be worth looking at for $12

YouAreProtected.com Strong marketing name. But you better protect them if you’re going to say it

BitNotion.com Getting a bid for Bit. Bit and short are worth a few bucks now

SnakeStick.com I don’t even know what a snake stick is but it sounds cool

  1. The World and technology constantly evolve. Keeping your head in the sand may land you on an empty beach when you finally pull your head out. “Where did everyone and all their business go?”
They moved on to a better beach. Happening in a lot of industries atm. 😉
