One of the down side of buying names at auctions is having them land or be at various registrars around the net. It should be pretty simple to keep track of them. A spreadsheet or a manager like Efty can keep your portfolio management up to date. Of course you actually have to put them in. I won’t go into details but we all know some registrars are better than others. And a few absolutely gouge customers with dot com renewals of $30 or more. Those are the registrars you set a calendar to remind you to get them out. The others you just set auto renew and keep the credit card up to date. All sounds simple but I still seem to forget a few domains. You would think that if I spend a few thousand dollars on a name I would manage it properly. But I don’t
I had a credit card compromised while on vacation and had to be issued a new card. I only use it for domain investing and special purchases. So when it had to be changed it meant I pretty much had to change every registrars on hand card. When it came time to renew some domains recently the registrars emailed and said they had a problem. And low and behold a few registrars and names I forgot about popped up. I was embarrassed and excited. How could I forget about that name and Wow! I forgot I bought that name and now I can push it over to Godaddy with the balance of my names. Like found money. Money that was always yours but you left it in a sportcoat you hadn’t worn in two years but there was $100 bill in the pocket. But in this case two, $2000 bills. And yes, I started going through every registrar I’ve ever used to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I don’t like found money
Domain of the Day: Yezzy.com I like this type of brand. Short, double consonants with a Y or a vowel at the end.
Quote of the Day: “My father had taught me to be nice first, because you can always be mean later, but once you’ve been mean to someone, they won’t believe the nice anymore. So be nice, be nice, until it’s time to stop being nice, then destroy them.” –Laurell K. Hamilton

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Just consolidate all your names at Network Solutions and everything will be fine…
