Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday March 8th, 2019

Escrow.com

For the first time in a while I don’t have a lot to say this morning.   Nothing exciting going on or funny stories.  I did find out yesterday I’m not supposed to buy .dev which was helpful.  Although I have never purchased a newG it was still nice to know that I have made good decisions.  I take that back.  As I type this I realized I bought Iten.run to do a blog about running in Iten.   But that’s the difference

As a user, I think the new Gs are great.   For a reasonable price you can find a name that describes your site. But as a domain investor I see no value.  The point of the new Gs was to make alternatives available and there are.  Domains are most valuable when there are no alternatives. Put them together and you see why you shouldn’t buy NewGs as investments.  Only if you have use.  There is no such thing as a better NewG for investment than another. Anyone that tells you one is better than another is just giving opinion. Because even the biggest industry or user group isn’t big enough to sell out a whole new Gtld.   If dot net can’t do it then .run,  .movie,  or any other ending  has no chance.  The ONLY tld that represents everything is dot com.  It’s sold out and in demand.  You can’t say that about any other ending on the net.  Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on.

If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.

  1. Thought I would drop a quick comment here.
A few weeks ago I “won” a GD auction from one of the names I found on your list here. I kept waiting to hear from them so I could pay for it.
logged in today and found that while I had the highest bid, but it was in my not won list.
I had to get on a chat with support to figure out why. apparently the listing was a from a “partner registrar” and they were “notified that this/these domain(s) in question has/have either been renewed, transferred, or is/are no longer available per that registrar’s policies.”

sure would be nice to know that before I wasted time bidding and waiting on the damn domain name. And really would have been nice to be informed of that without actually having to contact them to get the news.

GoDaddy auction place needs to do better. makes me not want to mess with auctions from them any more even though they clearly are the leader and can get away with whatever they want.

    1. Hi Bryan – it used to be much worse where owners would pull back their names after auction all the time. GoDaddy has cleaned that up quite a bit for names that are registered with them, but as you experienced, it can still be a problem with partner names. I also agree that they could work on their communication when these things happen. In the past, I would typically get an email when this happened, but sometimes not. I wonder if that is also a partner issue.
