Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday May 17th, 2019

Maybe I’m just doing it wrong.  I’ve never run a startup but I’ve started up a few companies.  I followed the lead of my Father and the rules were simple.  Bootstrap what you can. Spend the first few years proving the model before you try and buy your way into faster growth .  Borrow money to expand.  Bring in outside investors if your end goal is to get out.
Obviously there is no comparing Uber and other HUGE startups to my little businesses but the concept is the same.  Or I thought it was.  Uber is foolish with their money.  They spend it like its someone else’s money.  Oh yeah, it is.  Taking money like a Ponzi scheme.  Initial investors get paid off big returns by the next wave of investors with no intentions of real profits.  The recent stories of Beyonce trading her $6 million dollar charge for a corporate concert for equity isn’t a success story to me.  Its another case of Uber blowing needless money on needless things. Completely unnecessary.
Losing money no longer scares investors. They actually could care less if money is ever made. Only that someone else thinks it potentially could make money and that they are willing to pay more for it than the initial investment.  Playing the “Greater Fool” game.  People will call me an old has been with my thinking but I truly think you can establish market share and watch your burn rate even when people are jumping over each other to buy in to a piece of it.  Just because you are in demand doesn’t mean you have to change your fiscal responsibility.  At no point should a company of any size spend $6 million on a singer for a corporate event.  Ever.  Especially in pre IPO stage.
That being said, the DSAD corporate party will be in August and has tentatively booked Rick Springfield and Kasha Goo Goo with no original members but the guy that did their hair is still involved.  Details coming    Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on

Domain of the Day:  Top number of bids on the Godaddy board today

Quote of the Day: “I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Namejet, Sedo, and other Names Up for Auction   Its the dream of so many urban dwellers.  To get some land and a small house in the country. Low reserve   21 years old and met reserve.  Search Engine Marketing will exist and be a huge business as long as Google exist  With a reserve between $500 and $1000 I think this easily hits it and sells   Yes,  Dave Evanson just picked this one up  Closes today. Reserve met under $1000

Test.Center   If I am sure about anything today, its that this bid is not real  Great number but reserve is end user  Met reserve.   Of course GOX was a pretty well known exchange   Met reserve at $122   All yours. I live there, don’t need a sign     Memorable.  Maybe dog related  Own the Uniregistry typo traffic.  All 4 of them   Now that BTC is back up, these types of names may come back in to play

Godaddy Domains With Multiple Bids  My kind of name.  Although I’m not doing myself any favors putting it here   Nice CVCkinda V.   Pronounceable so it should do very well   Decent name for a vet or groomer   Going to be a great marketing name for someone that specializes in these.  My wife has a mint chocolate chip one every birthday   Coders and Storytellers. All the future needs  Great letters.  N for Network or Ninja  Upgrade name for dozens of companies and they are all over the map as to what they do. And that’s a good thing  I’m not a huge fan of Nerd or Geek names but bidders always disagree with me Not sure gifted is a choice  Too generic but hundreds of millions in advertising are being thrown at them   Godaddy values this at $6K which is pretty high for a 5L with no meaning other than a last name  So many things you can harvest at a web farm  An incredible combination for creating something cool   Good name for promo and printing business.  Term gets great returns on Google
