Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday May 17th, 2019

Escrow.com

Maybe I’m just doing it wrong.  I’ve never run a startup but I’ve started up a few companies.  I followed the lead of my Father and the rules were simple.  Bootstrap what you can. Spend the first few years proving the model before you try and buy your way into faster growth .  Borrow money to expand.  Bring in outside investors if your end goal is to get out.
Obviously there is no comparing Uber and other HUGE startups to my little businesses but the concept is the same.  Or I thought it was.  Uber is foolish with their money.  They spend it like its someone else’s money.  Oh yeah, it is.  Taking money like a Ponzi scheme.  Initial investors get paid off big returns by the next wave of investors with no intentions of real profits.  The recent stories of Beyonce trading her $6 million dollar charge for a corporate concert for equity isn’t a success story to me.  Its another case of Uber blowing needless money on needless things. Completely unnecessary.
Losing money no longer scares investors. They actually could care less if money is ever made. Only that someone else thinks it potentially could make money and that they are willing to pay more for it than the initial investment.  Playing the “Greater Fool” game.  People will call me an old has been with my thinking but I truly think you can establish market share and watch your burn rate even when people are jumping over each other to buy in to a piece of it.  Just because you are in demand doesn’t mean you have to change your fiscal responsibility.  At no point should a company of any size spend $6 million on a singer for a corporate event.  Ever.  Especially in pre IPO stage.
That being said, the DSAD corporate party will be in August and has tentatively booked Rick Springfield and Kasha Goo Goo with no original members but the guy that did their hair is still involved.  Details coming    Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on
