Afternic continues to be my best sales tool after direct sales. Its huge to be part of the Godaddy network and have consumers see your product as they hunt for a name. It’s like mixing in your own product in with Amazon’s. Millions of eyeballs for free. Or 15%. The great part of it is a lot of people actually think they’re buying it from Godaddy. They have no idea its a 3rd party name. They pay for it and it ends up in their account. For names that are $500 to $3500 its performs incredibly well. At least for me. Above that price and it’s a bit more of a decision for a buyer.
I also like the fact that if you get an offer you get a broker to take the name and deal with the client. It was going to be the same commission whether its BIN or negotiated. I had an offer for $3500 on a name I bought for $20 about 7 years ago. I said I would take $4500 but the broker said “I’ll use that as a floor and work for more”. Which is what I should have done in the first place but I was being lazy. It’s nice to have someone trying to help me get as much as I can out of it.
But as Christi Marin so nicely pointed out. You have to make sure that your Afternic matches the prices that you have everywhere else and vice versa. But Josh has also proven that they will often buy at a place that its listed much higher even if its listed at a cheaper place somewhere else. So, in short, just make sure to have it listed everywhere you can if you are looking to sell a name under $5K

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
