I talk about social media handles more than most but I’ll tell you why. A social media handle CAN be a business. It can be more valuable than the domain you operate your business on. If you ever have been on Instagram you can see that it is its own world. Full of advertisers and the biggest accounts with millions of followers. Keywords on instagrams have instant followers and assume its a big player in that category. Much in the same way a domain does. On twitter, three character handles aren’t allowed anymore making the original names valuable.
The other barrier to entry for starting a business is making a website. No need on instagram. You are ready for selling the second you have over 10,000 followers which is a piece of cake with a big keyword name. Yes, instagram can ban you and but Google could ban you too with the same effect. The difference is the cost of acquisition of eyeballs. Its much cheaper to build a brand on Instagram.
Am I saying you should start buying Instagram accounts? No. You officially can’t if you wanted to. All I’m saying is there is more than one way to own real estate on the Internet. The younger generation is more than happy to build their brand on Instagram and its the platform of choice over Snap and Twitter because of ease to build. It’s something we all need to be cognizant of and an opportunity to capture the market below the larger businesses building a brand

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
I’ve been thinking about Instagram handles for a while now. I was actually watching some videos about it this morning after a friend of mine sold one for $10,000 last week. Just from doing shoutouts on an active channel you can earn 10k+ per year easily.
I wish I had gotten into them early on as I knew about Instagram well before Facebook ever acquired it. I still made a lot of money off of it, but in hindsight getting the good usernames would have been better for the long run.
