Many of you already know but some of you might not. One of the partners here at DSAD, Josh, is a paramedic, EMT, (although I think he has a fancier title than that). He literally saves lives for a living. Although he isn’t a doctor I bet he’s saved as many lives as some doctors. Every time I talk to him I can tell he loves his job. Most people don’t like talking about work once they’re home but Josh loves talking shop if you ask. I remember a NamesCon when he sat down and talked for an entire evening with the late Lonnie Borck about being a paramedic. Lonnie was a volunteer paramedic for the Hatzolah of Baltimore, an emergency service staffed by members of the Jewish faith. He was not just a volunteer but pretty much oversaw the operation that in their words “Our response team consists of 8 Paramedics and 22 EMTs. As soon as the call goes out, the two closest units respond immediately in private vehicles with medical equipment. Arriving within minutes, they form a critical link in the chain of survival”
I absolutely loved listening to those two share stories. No names so HIPPA laws didn’t come into play. Hours and hours of stories and you could see the bond those two had and how much good they both had done over the years. He wasn’t talking shop about domains, the entire evening was stories of helping people. Two amazing people and every NamesCon I think of the loss of Lonnie. Taken from us too soon. I honestly barely knew him but I learned enough about him in those three hours to know that he deeply cared about others. And not a word about domain investing. He and Josh both love their work and I know that they would do it for no pay. Because Lonnie did it for no pay. He volunteered his time. He loved helping people in need. I know Josh would do the same but fortunately for all of us we don’t have to have him make that choice.
This is what you are going to get at NamesCon. You are going to get to know the “other” lives of people that are in domain investing. If you don’t like people and exchanging stories then I suggest you stay home. If you’re merely there to learn how to be a better domain investor I’m sure you’re going to get a few tips and hints at the conference. But there will TONS of helpful hints and tricks hidden in the stories that everyone shares. It’s amazing what you will learn when people just start talking. Let them talk about what they love and the information pours out. It may not be domain investing info but it will be something that makes you richer in one way or another. Here are today’s names.
