Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday June 25th , 2018

Escrow.com

With the recent events in the US its reminded me of one thing.   Regardless of beliefs, people need to be nicer to each other.  We in the US have developed this need to pick teams.  For everything.  We’ve developed this you are with me or against me attitude.  Yet things aren’t always that defined.   Undoubtedly there are so many people that are uninformed, lack experiences in different cities with different people, and/or have been raised in a small environment.   They have a completely different viewpoint. Many that I don’t agree with.  As long as those viewpoint doesn’t physically or mentally hurt anyone then thats OK.  But that doesn’t make them dumb, stupid, or the other names that are being thrown around.  It makes them think differently than you do.

On the other side, there are also people that are using the anti bullying, fat shaming, minority, and racism as an excuse to not rise up and continue to improve your life.  All of the above are demoralizing and hurtful but for every person that tries to hold you down in America is another that is willing to help you reach your goals. That’s what makes our country great.  We are diverse, for better or worse.  But we have to treat each other respectfully.  Both in words and actions.

I hope this current culture in America eases soon.  I have noticed a nastiness in old 60 + year old white men that doesn’t look particularly good on them.  Ironically because they were the peace and love generation and now they exude anything but. Peace and love has some how turned into “I’m going to move to Boca and only hang out with guys that think and act like me”  with Fox News burned into their TV.

I hope in the future we can learn to hate individuals not groups of people.  You have to get to know each person individually and then hate them.  Hate them for what’s inside not what they look like and where they’re from.  All of which I say in jest but you get my point.  And I promise this is as political as I will get.  I just had to get it off my chest and now I’ve moved on. The names were limited today so I found myself reading the news and got a little fired up.  Here are today’s domains.  Hope you find a good one. Click to see the latest price

  1. Promoting generalizations / beliefs such as -> “nastiness in old 60 + year old white men that doesn’t look particularly good on them. Ironically because they were the peace and love generation” <- sounds, ironically, like the thinking behind so many other -isms of biased, prejudiced, un-thinking. I'll call such thinking "unhelpful".

Have you ever watched the movie "Field of Dreams"? If you grew up experiencing the 1960s you would have etched in your mind the statement "No, I think you had two fifties and moved right into the seventies" and you would know exactly what Annie meant. For those who have never watched the movie Annie's line reflected the divide – then and now – in segments, demographics of this country. Not everyone expressed a hope for and worked towards a world of "peace, love and understanding". Some supported the Vietnam War. Most had no idea – no deep understanding of the underlying dynamics of that war: the distortions, the half-truths, the many "bad things" at play – some cogently discussed in Ken Burn's recent excellent documentary on the Vietnam war.

I no more want to be judged as an angry 60+ white guy than the next person wants to be judged based on their gender, the color of their skin, their religion or any other sweeping generalization.

Bias is bias and none of us are eager to embrace it. There's even a "name of the moment" for bias: "implicit bias". Bias is bias, but I guess there's a name for not confronting or admitting its existence.

We ALL might do better to spend a day confronting our own presumptions and asking how those biases add fuel to the reports of people being unable to engage in meaningful dialogue or dialogue that might effect a change in anyone's thinking.

    I'm 60+. I'm caucasian. I'm male.

And I could be described as a domainer.

Who am I? What am I?

    Signed,
CrankyOldMan (1 part true, 2 parts wry, 1 part self-effacing, 1 part . . . . or just another angry old white guy)

    1. Webwork,

well put. Yet I am still throwing you into the cranky old white guy category now that I know more about you. Corvette on the way
