Domain Spotlight:

Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday November 12th, 2018

I wanted to start the day by thanking all those that served in the armed services.  Combat and war is an awful thing but I do realize that the great life and opportunity that surrounds me is only possible because of the freedoms that millions of men and women have fought for. Had my Grandfather not gone to Germany to end Hitler’s reign there possibly could be millions less Jewish people in this world.  So thank you to all that have served.

On a completely different note.  Like millions of other kids in the late 80s and 90s I was into baseball and basketball cards.   I lived in Chicago and followed Michael Jordan’s every move.  Every magazine he was on I put on a piece of cardboard and shrink-wrapped.  Every card I bought.  I got lucky.   99% of all the cards back then are worthless but Jordan turned out to be one if not the best players of all times.  Definitely the most popular.  One of my purchases were boxes of 86 fleer basketball.   A box of those now go for about $80,000.  I had three.  I used my Jordan cards for spending money back in college and many years after.  I sold my last few packs a few years ago and still got $700 a pack.  It’s easy to look in hind site and thought if I kept it all I would have half a million dollars worth of stuff.  But the money I got over the last few decades made life much more enjoyable and at times meant I could buy clothes or even as simple as go out for a few beers with my friends.

Michael Jordan represented the childhood for so many people 30 years ago.  They want to have a piece of it.  I still have a ton of magazines, papers, and cards and pull it out for a smile every once in a while.  I don’t get upset that I sold too soon but rather am thankful that it allowed me to do some things that I couldn’t have done otherwise.  I feel the same about domains.  I sold some domains for 1/10 of what they are worth now but that money allowed me to do the things that got me where I am now.  Because we don’t live life yearning for the period at the end of the sentence.  We cherish the words of the sentence along the way.  Jordan let me enjoy the sentence.
