Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday November 4th, 2019

Escrow.com

A lot of people have been talking about the Netflix documentary Game Changers and most of them have said it instantly changed their diet. So of course I had to check it out. I have been joking about Vegan names for quite a long time. Generally because Vegans are loud and opinionated about their food choices. Always thinking that the way they eat is better than mine. After watching Game Changers I would have to agree with them. I haven’t eaten red meat in years and eat meat about twice a week. So moving to vegetarianism would be pretty easy for me. The only reason I haven’t is because I don’t want to effect my wife’s eating habits and she does all the cooking.

Here’s my angle of why I am shifting towards a plant based diet. Farmers. I am surrounded by them and I don’t like the way it effects my environment. I can’t see a tree or plant for miles because they have it all in corn or beans. Corn or beans that doesn’t feed one person. It feeds pigs and cows. The wind howls in Central Illinois the minute the crops come down with nothing to stop it for 50 miles. Its is instantly noticeable. The second corn is harvested the winds add 10 mph. Add in to the fact that 40% of the income to these farmers is in government subsidies and I am not a fan of the current system. And if I’m against it then I shouldn’t be eating the things that cause it. The bonus is I will be healthier and could even perform better in my athletic endeavors. I won’t push it on others but you can guarantee I am going to share in my improvements that are a result or the problems it causes. Just like I do everything here on the blog and on twitter. For better or worse. Definitely check out the documentary though. Good food for thought.

  1. Shane, I went vegetarian around 10 years ago, and have been on and off vegan as well over those years. With that being said, the overly obnoxious side of Vegans that throw it in your face about how wrong you are because of how ‘bad’ you eat drives me nuts. I totally get why you’re always making jokes about the vegan names.

I feel like you’re eating a good balance with meat 2-3 days a week. In reality, I’ll probably move in this same direction in the future myself. Mostly plant based with some fish or poultry mixed in.

    1. Tom,

People are telling me how much better I feel but I’m not sure its going to make a huge difference since I only eat 3 meals out of 21 a week with chicken or some pork. My diet could be cleaner and that’s what I’ll work on. Or skip the club sandwich and get something else. Bread..that’s a whole other thing I have to cut down.

    2. I would say that the majority of vegans that are obnoxious about it are acting that way out of animal welfare rather than much of a care about how healthy a particular person is. The quickest way to turn this society to a more plant based diet would be an honest education to children about how their food is made, but we would never terrify them with those videos.
