Every day I get emails asking me what I think about a domain. I can tell you right now that almost every domain valuation email over the last 10 years hasn’t contained many good domains. If you have to ask if its good then it’s not. We all know a good domain the moment we see one. Sure there are times where we may not know the business it deals with and not see the value, but for some reason the person that explained why it has value asked me for advice. They were looking for confirmation, not opinion.
If by some chance I do see value, you know the follow up. Can you help me sell it? I can help them auction it but I can’t help them sell it to an end user. I’ll usually give an end user price and a liquid price. Example, $5K possibly but at auction I see it getting $500. Confusion sets in. If its worth $5K why do they want to sell it for $500. Then I have to go into the time value of money. Something that domain investors aren’t really good with. There are too many stories of “I bought it for $300 sold it 5 years later for $10K” out there. Nobody wants to hear about the person that has 1000 domains, sells three a year for 6 times profit, and loses money. That story doesn’t make the cover. But $4700 profit made in 5 years whether with one domain or flipping 47 names at $100 each is still $4700. More work in the latter example but definitely gain domain investment skills compared to sitting there and waiting. Not saying one is better than the other. I’m a sit and wait person now but I was a fast flipper to get there. Lots of ways to skin a cat although did people really skin cats and look for different ways to do it?

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
