Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Sunday July 1st , 2018

Jul 01 2018

So I had a twitter follower ask me to start listing what domains I bid on at auction and what I paid.  I can’t list ever single name I bid on but I can list a few every once in a while and tell you why I bid , how much I bid, and final price.  It gives you an idea of what I am thinking.    I don’t have some secret method to my madness.  I have a wheelhouse that I feel comfortable with and I usually stay in it.  The reason I won’t share everything is I don’t want to spend the time.  This is a free blog and I deliver equal value to what readers are paying for content.

Here are two names that I bid on a few days ago    I bid on this one because plant gel is the gel people cut flowers in to make them last longer.  But I thought it could be much more than that.  Some gel either made from a plant or for a plant.   The canna space is also growing so it could go that route.  I bid $488 and walked away.  It ended up closing at $520.  I probably would have paid $550 for it but I set the price and came back to see the results.  Wasn’t good enough name for me to watch it live and if I really wanted it I would have put a much higher bid in.    I liked this one because I though it might go cheap for under $200.  A good clothing line.  Maybe a potting soil.  Again, another cannabis product.  I initially bid $305 and forgot about it.  But I got the “You’ve been outbid ” email and I decided I would go a little higher.  I put in a price that in hindsight I thought was a little high at $355.   I ended up getting sniped at $358 while I was helping customers at work.  So I almost got it.   If I would have getting the name I would have put a $3800 BIN for the rest of the year for a quick turn.  Adjusted after that.

That was all I bid on at GD on Thursday.  There were a few others that I liked but knew that they would be higher than I was willing to pay.  I usually buy a few names a week on Godaddy depending on how many I sold that week.  I try and put 70% of my money back into more domains.  Saving 20% for taxes (yes my tax rate is higher so I have to take 100% of some sales) and 10% to have fun and buy things.   I’ll keep doing these reports if readers find it interesting.  Otherwise I’ll tell more stories about molesting country singers.  Here are today’s domains.  Hope you find a good one. A special thank you to Dave from for sending me two cases of cooling towels for the employees at the nursery.  He couldn’t have timed it any better as we had over 100 degree heat index this weekend.  He made me look like a hero as I handed them out.  An incredible gesture. And another thank you to whoever sent me the Yeti 45 cooler.  It was from Amazon and all it said was “Keep up the good work, have a cold drink on me”   I can’t thank one of you enough.  It really is the most amazing cooler I’ve seen.  I’ve had it two days and hardly any of the ice has melted.  On days I think of quitting blogging I can come back to this week.  Amazing people in this world.  Thanks Dave and somebody.

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction   23 year old name.  4th of July   A great name for a startup that teaches you something.  1996 birthday and only two bidders at press time   I don’t usually buy or sell but I am very interested in this one   If I develop sites or do e-commerce advising I would love to have this name   Canna seeds have taken over the seed market.  Used to be heirloom vegetable seeds.  3 bids  I don’t really like it but its at four figure and what do I know

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids  Getting bids like a pronounceable rather than an acronym   Canada is the country/neighbor that we don’t deport their residents………….yet  Fast AND cheap  Wealthy people want different.  This applies to furniture as well  I think all color+cannabis/canna domains are worth owning  Buy and sell old back linked sites  Getting four figure bids.  Was a Canadian TV show for a brief time  what a lot of mistake makers are going to type in after a recent arrest  Playful name that would make a good brand.  393,000 backlinks   Nice little    Numbers still rule.  like it or hate it, numerics are the most valuable type of domain names  If you sell SSL this works as well as any.  Especially at this price  I believe this is the most popular type of investing. Bidding agrees with me  A program or app to help organize deliveries

Godaddy Names With One or NO Bids  I think everyone will own one (or hybrid)  in 10 years No bids.  I am going to say that this could be a solar name but nobody agrees with me at all Have zero idea what it would be used for but at $12 I am willing to wait and let someone figure it out 16 years old.  Get it if you think he’s going to turn for the worse  Old original Levis sell for a lot of money. No bids  I definitely maybe.  Worth taking a look at

Shane, please keep this going. It’s very helpful and brings the realism into what can often seem so theoretical at times. Thanks for the great writing.
