Travis and I were having a good laugh about how people just aren’t very knowledgeable when it comes to negotiating a high end domain. One, they just don’t know how much they go for. They really don’t mean to be rude. They just don’t know. Telling them they are stupid for not knowing is just as bad and not knowing the value of an asset before you buy it. That’s not where they are stupid. They’re stupid because they send the whole thread of their discussions with other people in the business. We had one for one of our LLL.coms that deep in the thread said “$150,000 are they crazy” and “just offer them $5,000, these brokers ask ridiculous prices to try and make money for themselves” While the make money part is true (and maybe the crazy), they could have easily googled “LLL.com values” or something similar and seen that $5K won’t get you any LLL.com. Zero. Not even the worst.
I also got an offer for MonkeyWrench dot com for $1500 and I countered with $75K. Their response was “that is literally 100 times what we are willing to pay. Our budget limit is $2000” I responded with “Best of luck with your project” but what I really wanted to say was “I just hope you’re not starting a math site”
Another person not knowing how email worked gave me a nice surprise as well this week. One of the most popular newsletters in the green industry sent me the ENTIRE email list by putting the emails in cc not BCC. My first response was “Oh shit” because it pretty much was the who’s who of the industry and now I had all their emails. My second response was “How do they have an email server that lets them send out 3000 emails at once?” Mine makes me break it up. Either way I’m glad they did. Now I just have to figure out how to monetize it.
And finally I’ll leave you with a funny joke I read yesterday. Let me know if you like it.
It’s a bit dirty so scroll down if you don’t like a semi dirty jokes
A Green Beret walks into a Marine bar carrying a large snapping turtle under his arm.
All of the Marines go quiet.
The Green Beret sets the snapping turtle on the bar, pulls out his dick and taunts the turtle with it until it latches on.
He lifts the turtle off the bar with his dick, swings it around in a circle, spins it around, slams it back on to the bar and gouges it’s eyes out with his fingers, killing it.
He puts his dick back in his pants and turns to a stunned crowd of Marines.
“I bet none of you pussies can do that.”
The crowd stays silent. A moment later, one of the Marines slowly raises his hand and says, “I.. I think I can sir, if you promise not to gouge my eyes out.”

Lol
Apparently bidder 14 outdid my 250k bid for calculator.com.
hahahah, “I just hope you’re not starting a math site”
That’s when you need to recommend Calculator.com
