One of the reason I have all of my domains at Godaddy is the phone authorization phone call. No name can leave my account unless they personally call me and I give them a pin number verbally. Essentially leaving one way to steal a name. Which is what this person did. What you trade in security you lose in speed of transfer. You have to wait for that call and it is not always quick. I have been fortunate to have good reps that call fairly quickly but always after I email them to remind them to look for the transfer. But its west coast working hours and generally no weekends. But I’ve always figured if someone can’t wait a few days for a name then I probably don’t want to be selling to them. The anxiety of transfer is generally the sellers because they want the money. We just pretend like its the buyer’s.
Where I’m scared to death is Afternic. While they can’t steal my name out of Godaddy the regular way they could easily take the unlocked back door. Get in to my account, put a super low price on Afternic, buy it cheap, and have it fast transfer where I can do ZERO about it. No waiting, no phone call, no verification, nothing. A complete free for all. They say check your prices constantly but a thief is going to change and fast transfer in minutes, giving you no time to check so that is going to help. There needs to be a price change verification system. Which is a pain but is the only safety valve there is. Or could be. Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on

That is why I only use GoDaddy until names are available to transfer out. I have been a big fan of NameSilo, but am now back to using Dynadot a lot. I like that they are now members of ICA.
They could fix most of that problem by simply implementing 2-factor auth at Afternic. It’s easy, they already do it on GoDaddy and it’s dumb that it isn’t offered on a marketplace with instant transfer.
