Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday May 2nd, 2019

May 02 2019

One of the reason I have all of my domains at Godaddy is the phone authorization phone call.  No name can leave my account unless they personally call me and I give them a pin number verbally.   Essentially leaving one way to steal a name.  Which is what this person did.   What you trade in security you lose in speed of transfer.  You have to wait for that call and it is not always quick.  I have been fortunate to have good reps that call fairly quickly but always after I email them to remind them to look for the transfer.  But its west coast working hours and generally no weekends.  But I’ve always figured if someone can’t wait a few days for a name then I probably don’t want to be selling to them. The anxiety of transfer is generally the sellers because they want the money.  We just pretend like its the buyer’s.

Where I’m scared to death is Afternic.  While they can’t steal my name out of Godaddy the regular way they could easily take the unlocked back door. Get in to my account, put a super low price on Afternic, buy it cheap, and have it fast transfer where I can do ZERO about it.  No waiting, no phone call, no verification, nothing.  A complete free for all.  They say check your prices constantly but a thief is going to change and fast transfer in minutes, giving you no time to check so that is going to help.  There needs to be a price change verification system.  Which is a pain but is the only safety valve there is.  Or could be.  Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on

Domain of the Day:   Ending down the road but this is a pretty multipurpose, awesome name

Quote of the Day:  If you want total security, go to prison. There you’re fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking… is freedom. — Dwight D. Eisenhower

Namejet, Sedo, and other Names Up for Auction   Closes today with one bid at $79   19 years old.  Sold for $1200 in the past with Uniregistry as the top bidder   Met reserve.  And I sell it.  The soil, not the name   The org actually helps you stand out from all the other companies that share the name

UU.TV  Not sure its worth this price but love the name.  Fails the radio test but passes the TV test   No bids.   A bit long but good marketing name if you have a rafting business     No bids.   I see it more as a product name than a company name    aka Baby seat  Already a product.  Could be another

Godaddy Domains With Multiple Bids   Memorable and easy logo  A play on Dandelion and bidders like it.  14 years old   Still a fan, just not as big as I used to be when I didn’t have any  House of Brands   Hall of Birds    Home of Band-Aids  Another good name for mobile payments.  Been a few nice ones this month.  Highest number of bids on the list today  One of the better 5Ls in the last few months  Cute kids name.  Ironic that bees are associated with cute things since they sting you if they don’t like you   Evidently some form of audio metering.   Maybe that’s what all the bids are about   Upgrade name for a few places.   Just a matter of time before this get used, can’t say that about all domains    Bidders are pricing it like a pronounceable not an acronym    The cool section of Leeds or Lead generation  Super fancy way of shortening auxiliary  Gonna make you purdy  Sounds badd ass  canna name all the way bro  Sounds like a gay dance troop     Soccer portal  Just have to overcome Citibank    I guess officially it is a thing since there is a day dream.  Easy to spell and remember  23 years old      obviously some tool or media company that focuses on video

Godaddy Domains With One Or No Bids   Ironically it IS available   Host leads have a great CPC   Not sure what the end game here but I’m thinking vibrators    As good of a vape sales name as any   Romantic name     A solid security name for $12.  Won’t stay $12  Thousands of nail salons around the world and this should definitely be one of them

That is why I only use GoDaddy until names are available to transfer out. I have been a big fan of NameSilo, but am now back to using Dynadot a lot. I like that they are now members of ICA.

They could fix most of that problem by simply implementing 2-factor auth at Afternic. It’s easy, they already do it on GoDaddy and it’s dumb that it isn’t offered on a marketplace with instant transfer.
