It’s hard not to write about the big sale of Uniregistry to Godaddy but it also was one of the easiest predictions so far. You talk to anyone at NamesCon and they all said Frank Schilling was in a different place. Not necessarily a bad place, just a different place. It all pointed to some big changes ahead one way or another. It was one of the worst kept secrets over the last few weeks that they were in negotiations and every time someone told me, I had to act like it was the first time I heard it to keep someone from getting in trouble who told me originally. I’ve heard all kinds of numbers and rumors from $75 million to $150 million but at this point it doesn’t matter. Its one of the biggest portfolio sales of all times and Frank Schilling can live out his life doing whatever Frank wants to do. Although right now it appears what he wants to do is be 30 and a rock star.
As for Godaddy. Aman the CEO is living up to his word. He is buying assets that are improving his company. He is buying assets that will return profit to his investors. At this point he is saying and doing all the right things. I am not an investor in Godaddy but I will be soon. I need to profit from what I know are sound financial moves. Godaddy may not buy out my portfolio but that doesn’t mean I can’t profit from Godaddy.
It’s also a great time to be a broker at NameFind. They make money selling domains and they just handed them an incredible pantry of names to sell. And finally, Uniregistry names will integrate with Afternic and Fast Transfer so names kept there will be in the registration path. The only people that won’t like this are competitors and people that used Uniregistry just to not use Godaddy. And you know Epik is going to be all over them like stink on shit

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
