DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Thursday, July 23rd 2015

Escrow.com
I was the top bidder on a few of the dot xyz domains for sale at Namejet.  That is until I wasn’t at the very end.  Contrary to a lot of people, I think .xyz will have more value in the future.  I could tell you why but it really doesn’t matter because I’m not here to explain or promote .xyz.  That and people have already picked a side and I smart enough to not waste my time trying to change it.  But that’s the beauty of domain investing.  You get to put your money in things you think will go up in value and eventually you find out if you were right or not.  The talk and opinion in the middle is for entertainment and folly.  Long story short, I’m long .xyz and we’ll see if I’m right down the road. Here are today’s names.

ForSaleByOwner.cc   No bidders (until mine goes in) 17 years old.   I think it will be worth more than $12 in the future.

MXXX.com  Has one bid, but its pretty high. 17 years old

WideBoard.com  No bidders. $12.  I think it makes a simple, memorable brand.

KNBZ.com  19 scrabble points so it’s going to go for over $300

YLLB.com  14 years old.  Over $1000 at press time

HRTO.com   The kind I USED to like.  Now I like Q and Z because they sell for more. But I’m selling those and buying these

SpeedofLight.com   Great marketing name or even a brand

SFZ.cc  Over $300 already

LegalDrugsForSale.com  7,ooo backlinks from 1500 different sites.  A lot of new legal drugs to add to the mix

DomainShipper.com  I figured you all would like this one.  Already a few bidders

6215.com   One of the better 4 number dot coms to come up in the last month

IrishTaverns.com   No bidders despite there being one in every town.  I think all of them are called Dublin O’Neil or something similar

ZombieFanatics.com   Walking Dead is the catalyst.  No bidders on the zombie fan name

New GODADDY COUPON CODE: $.99 New Registration Godaddy fb99brmr01

ForexStarter.com   Officially a website.  Gets 728 visits a month and 9 years old.  Big CPCs and No bidders

SportsPhotography.com  Ends early this morning.  Nice name for stock photos or forum

When.io     I guess When can be a tech company name as well as any other word

FreeScore.com   There is a lot of money to made in Free Credit Score affiliates and ads.  Reserve me

Ornithology.com  The study of birds.  Big name for people that like birds.  PR 5

 Trillions.com   Four commas

SEDO’s Live Auctions Going on Now

Section.com  One word, 20 year old, brand

NewMortgage.com   Refinance is big boy money.  Getting a decent amount of bids

NUZ.com   Another pronounceable LLL.com  Not going to go Heritage Auction cheap though

VintageTechnology.com   Vintage Tech is becoming more and more collectible as time passes.  People want gadgets from their childhood.  And rich people will pay a lot of get it

Canoes.net  Good enough keyword to overcome the tld

Giftcard.net   Ditto

DNNZ.com    I think this goes to a domain investor rather than a Chinese domain investor.  Wait, I guess that’s the same thing

  1. Why one should buy this kind of costly domains and they could easily buy other TLD s in very chiep cost one like .ooo and any others are there one could easily own that.

  2. You have a soft spot for .xyz. I have yet to figure out a use for that one.
I have a soft spot for .cc. Holding on to them for years and they finally seem to be getting some love. It’s the easiest extension and the fastest one to type in the World.
    Cheers!

  3. I have been an avid reader since 09′ and you have been 100% spot on when it came to predicting future values on certain types of domains like NNNN/LNN/LLLL/BRANDABLE.coms but I have to say I cannot work out why in the hell you would want to invest in .XYZ and .NET’s? You of all people who scour lists of quality names each and every day, have made great profits on CVCV’s and brandables etc… yet still want to throw money down the drain with complete loser extensions. ones that you know will NEVER make you a profit….and even if you did sell an .XYZ or .NET down the road it will never make as much profit as a decent CVCV.com that you could buy on Namejet for under $2K. I just cant work it out. You said you wanted to improve the quality of your portfolio like Elliot yet you insist on XYZ? Elliot may promote these crappy extensions heavily but he dosent use them, like a Drug Baron. He only invests in quality and improves his portfolio year on year.. I am not anti-new GTLD , just dont want people wasting their money on absolute crap like they did with .PW. where are all you big PW supporters and buyers now?
If .XYZ becomes your new sponsor I’ll know what happened just like last time.

    1. Neil,

Dot xyz is absolutely not a sponsor. All portfolios have a few long shots. All I can say is it’s my money and we’ll just have to wait and see. I have THREE new tlds in my entire portfolio. Three. They are three 3 number dot xyz. I guarantee I could put them on Namejet and sell them for more than I paid for them, even after renewal. I’ll be fine. Just typing out loud what I’m buying like every other thing I buy. I paid $4500 for 50x com and people said I could have bought a much better name for the money . So far I’ve got a whopping $75 in new Tlds and trying to get a few more of which I tried to bid and didn’t when. According to you I should thank the other 40 equally dumb bidders :). Thanks all for the comments and co Vern about my sanity

  4. “yet still want to throw money down the drain with complete loser extensions. ones that you know will NEVER make you a profit”

Bold to say things in such absolute terms. The greater the risk the greater the reward they say and I don’t even think this is a big risk. Hell I spent more on a (crappy) 2 word .com on NameJet then he did on all 3 domains. Time will tell I guess!

PS. I don’t really like .xyz myself. I own a .today and a few others but what makes this fun is the different ideas and opinions. I am even starting to like .cc’s, I need to go though because I think a pig just flew by.
