Something very few people understand is the time and money it takes to build a company or an infrastructure needed to get the best prices for your products or services. For instance, many people look at my trees and see I sell them for $300. Tree growers get $120 or $140 for the same trees and say “I wish I could get $300 for my trees”. I tell them you can. All you have to do is build a huge retail facility. Spend a lot of money on advertising. Hire the staff that has the knowledge to explain and help choose which trees will work in a customers yard. Water them seven days a week. Have a crew that offers planting of those trees or at least delivery to the back yard because most people can’t carry a tree of that size. Warranty the tree and makes sure all trees that die are replaced or refunded. And of course be open at night and seven days a week to be there when people aren’t working. Do all that and you can get much higher prices. Once they hear that they are happy with loading them on the truck in the spring and being done with it. This is true with almost any business. To get the top price you have to be more than just offer the best product. There is so much behind it that is required. All it takes is time, people, and money to make money. Easy Peezy.
