There is a huge absence of buyers in the Chinese names right now. That is undeniable. There are a million ways to read this. If you compare things to the highs then we’re falling hard. If you compare prices to this time last year, then we are still at unbelievable returns. It all depends when you got in. I sold a Chinese names and did very well last week. More than paid for all my 5L.coms which I now consider worthless. This is an overall return game and overall I have been very fortunate. I have also put my money into a broad range of domain names and plant sites. Sites that are returning income. I have also been buying land and looking to buy more. All from domain profits. It’s all about diversification, and making money. I am going to win on some, lose on some. It’s how it works in high risk investments. The hot air coming from the watchers doesn’t effect my actions. When you’re a player the fans are going to root or cheer. You just have to be happy that they care enough to watch. Here are today’s names. Click to see current prices

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. I Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Don’t pack Ukeleles while driving, Shane. You’ll be hit with a DUI (Driving Under the Instruments)
“There is a huge absence of buyers in the Chinese names right now”
We really don’t know that because First and TwoTwo act as a consolidator. And, we don’t know if they are purposely putting a governor (control over purchase prices) to control the market.
There are 20 times more 4L on NJ compared to last year. Suppliers (domain owners) are flooding the market in an active role compared to a passive role thru Sedo and Afternic. With the abundance of 4L choices, buyers might not feel there is a matter of urgency which is what creates upward price velocity.
Remember, there is a whole different market out there for 4L domains besides Chinese buyers. This week I sold a 4L with a vowel for a very good price to a western firm.
If Lowes and HomeDepot flood the market for mulch at 5 bags for $10, you will still sell some this weekend. However, the sales (and profit) will increase in a couple weeks when the loss leader is no longer available.
I suspect the smart domain owners of premium 4L will sit out this recent down turn. And wait out this temporary lull in Chinese purchases for a better market in the future.
If the 4L domain owner is a flipper then yes – the present down turn stings.
