IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Saturday, May 19th

Crazy weather in Maryland the last few days.

I was at work on Tuesday and they were calling for heavy rain that evening, the night before saw a few heavy storms but nothing crazy. Tuesday Evening it started raining and just didn’t stop. Usually you’ll look at the radar and see the storm cell rapidly passing by, this time the storm cell just sat there and stretched across several counties. After a few hours, inches and inches of rain had fallen and actual flash flooding was starting to occur.

I say actual flash flooding to differentiate between low level places that often flood with a lot of rain. I’m talking about whitewater rivers forming were no body of water  previously existed. The first call for help, after the rain started, was for people trapped in there house with rising water. Apparently they posted on FB that they couldn’t get out, someone saw their post and called 911.

We arrived and it turned out that they weren’t in danger, as we continued down their road I looked ahead to see a small river rushing across the road, I was driving and we were in a large Engine with feet of ground clearance. I looked at the guy next to me and asked ” Think we can make it?” at first he said “probably”, then yelled “wait, I don’t think the road is there anymore” We took a closer look and sure enough the road was already gone, wiped away, the water had carved a small ravine where the road used to be.

So the public service announcement for the day: Don’t drive through flooded streets, maybe you’ll only stall out and get stuck, or maybe the fricken road isn’t even there anymore and you’ll sink into a hole with a river rushing over the top.
