I’m the worst mechanic that I know. I tried changing the glow plugs in an old diesel car. I took the intake manifold off 3 months ago and never did anything else. I tried putting it back on today to move the car and in the process lost a few bolts and broke a few plastic parts. They were brittle so I’ll blame the age.
I get a sense of satisfaction if I actually fix something or get the car to run better than it did, but there’s such a learning/efficiency curve that I don’t know if it’s worth it. When I watch the youtube DIY videos, I usually don’t even know what the hell they’re talking about and have to research the terms being used.
I also lose tools, every time. It’s not only every time I work on something, sometimes I’ll lose a tool every 5 minutes.
Luckily I don’t have to get this car running, If I did, I’d buckle down and keep plugging away till it was done, or I’d set it on fire and move on, maybe just ride my bike.
