Eventually I’ll write about domains again, I just haven’t been doing much in the domain world other than the list. I’ve been in a passive phase. So here’s another boating story:

Saturday my daughter and I went out on the river after a few thunderstorms rolled through, one of the river towns was having their big fireworks display that night. We thought it would be pretty cool to watch them on the water.  The boat ride to what I thought would be the ideal spot to watch the show was about 15 minutes down river and the whole trip we saw fireworks being shot over the water by people putting on their own displays.

As we got closer to the area that I wanted to anchor, I noticed another boat up ahead. I was a little surprised that there were so few boats on the water but then unless you know the water really well you need a jet motor to navigate this section of the river as there are crazy rock ledges that sit just below the water line. Since there were hardly any boats in the area I was running with my lights on, not navigation lights but bright LED’s. Even though we were using a jet it still sucks hitting rocks. As we got closer to the boat ahead of us (Still 100 yards off the port side) I noticed the boat starting to move toward us and immediately I thought “shit” that’s a police boat (Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission) and they’re going to pull us over, I couldn’t actually see what kind of boat it was. I was right, they turned their blue lights  on and they told me to shut down.

We got to watch the fireworks while tied off to the PFBC enforcement boat, while they wrote me a $300 ticket for negligent boating, the negligence being using lights to see rocks and not my navigation lights. The idea is that I was blinding all the other boats on the river… As the PBFC boat pulled away from us, their boat smacked into a rock.

To top off the night my trailer hub blew apart but we made it home. Apparently I’ve been pulling the trailer too much and neglecting to put grease on the bearings. The new hub assembly is in the mail.
