I was driving to a meeting last week when the URL on a billboard caught my eye: Coliseum.Show, and you can see a picture below.
The domain redirects to ColiseumShow.com, which promotes a recent mineral, fossil, gem and jewelry show hosted at the Denver Coliseum arena and events center, where 30,000 visitors were expected.
The registrant of the domain is Lowell Carhart of a company named Eons Expo, which puts on similar shows in Arizona and New Jersey.
The company appears to be a strong believer of Donuts’ .show extension, as they also own Bead.show, Denver.show, and Mineral.show. Similar to Coliseum.show, each domain is redirected to DenverColiseum.com.
As I mentioned last week, redirects aren’t as beneficial as stand-alone development for the new gTLDs, but they’re a good start to help build awareness.
