Domain Spotlight:

When reading through the NamesCon site tonight looking at the upcoming agenda, I stumbled across the link to the Right Of The Dot / NamesCon auction pre-bidding that is already ongoing at SnapNames.

As expected when domain industry veterans Monte Cahn and Michael Berkens are involved, the list is stacked with great names at a wide range of reserves — from no reserve to over $1 million.

When soliciting domains for the auction, they promised a variety of extensions would be included, and they followed through, with .club, .global, .deals, .vegas, .sexy, .xyz, and .limo represented, to name just a few.

I don’t know exactly when the pre-bidding went live, but a couple no-reserve domains already have bids:

  • KQT.com at $6,000
  • Pathologist.com at $300
  • Paperback.com at $250

It’s impressive to see those three at no reserve, and they will no doubt move much higher.

In addition to those domains with bids, a few others that jump out at me at first glance, along with their reserve range, include the following:

  • Mimes.com – No Reserve
  • WHE.com – $10,001 – $25,000
  • VP.net – $10,001 – $25,000
  • CM.net – $10,001 – $25,000
  • Tamales.com – $10,001 – $25,000
  • Susan.com – $25,001 – $50,000
  • Tofu.com – $50,001 – $100,000
  • GreenHomes.com – $50,001 – $100,000
  • PaymentCalculator.com – $50,001 – $100,000
  • Agree.com – $50,001 – $100,000
  • 877.com – $250,001 – $500,000
  • Investment.com – $1 million – $5 million
  • Land.com – $1 million – $5 million

All told, there are 250 domains currently open to pre-bidding, though I expect the live auction event will include far fewer domains.

Congratulations to Right Of The Dot and NamesCon for a stellar auction list. The event on Tuesday, January 13 is sure to be exciting.

10 Replies to “The Right Of The Dot / NamesCon Auction List is Live, and It’s Absolutely Loaded”

  1. Whilst there are some very good domains, the auction is loaded with rubbish new GTLD names….Eg:

    checkout.xwz
    crossfit.wiki
    drone.camera
    futbol.global
    brand.sexy
    128.xyz

I mean, these are NOT remotely premium domains!….Just Monte & Michael pushing their new GTLD agenda, dressed up as ‘premium’.

    .

  2. For one only 100 or so domains will make the live auction

All the rest will be in the extended auction that will be online for bidding before and then after the live auction

You may not like the new G’s which is your right but

crossfit.wiki (cross fit is a huge exercise vertical which returns 111,000,000 results in Google so perfect for a publication which covers this very large vertical

    drone.camera

Drones a hot product, its in the news almost every day so you have heard of them no?

what do you do with a drone?

    A non military drone?

you have a camera to take pictures and video from above.

futbol.global the .Global auction in London produced around 65,000 in sales.

Futbol which we call soccer is played all around the world which you can’t say about football which is played in the US, Canada and twice a year in London.

Futbol is so popular its has its own new gTLD

almost all three letter .xyz NNN domains have been registered, some have been sold by the registry for premium dollars.

    its at no reserve.

  3. I’m not a new gTLD guy myself…..I don’t own a single one (yet)……but many people do like them, and I knew they were going to be a part of the auction…….they don’t taint my view of some of the great .com’s (and even a few .net’s) that are part of the event.

  4. Voltaire

SO to be clear there will be a live auction of about 100 domain names and none of the one’s you pointed out will be in the live auction.

All these domains will be in the extended auction and I believe they all have no reserve

As to the quality of the domain names I will take issue with you

    Crossfit.wiki

Crossfit is a huge vertical in the exercise space there are over 111,000,000 references to cross fit in Google a wiki about the space makes plenty of sense

Drone.camera, well drones in generally are one of the hot topics and hot products and other than military Drones what do they do?

Basically you fly them to take pictures and/or video using a camera attached to the Drone, seems like a good domain

Futbol.global, we have a live auction of just .global domain names in London at it generates some $65K in sales and other .global domains have been sold by the registry in the $xx,xxx range since

Futbol unlike football is played all around the world and we think its a very good domain since as you know worldcup is trademarked.

There are very few NNN.xyz domains names left most have been registered and some have been sold by the registry, may not be your thing but its a fine domain.

  5. Umm, Shane…

I posted a comment here yesterday in response to the Namescon auction list you posted (not entirely agreeing with your view that it was a ‘stellar’ auction list), but my comment never appeared…

Do you only allow comments that agree with you?

That would be a small-minded shame, if true.

    .

  6. @Voltaire, Shane never censors comments, I can attest to that. There has been some crazy battles over the years with some nasty readers but Shane was also transparent. Now regarding the auction, you may or may not be right; the public will dictate which names are premium and which are crap. I have one of my names up for grabs ePeso.com so I am watching the action very closely. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Thanks to Monte and Michael for putting this together.

  7. Thanks for posting! This will be an exciting event. If you an attend NamesCon, its always more exciting when your in the room bidding. However, if you cant make it, you can bid live online while the live auction is running and there will be an extended auction for all the names not in the live auction that will run from January 15 – Feb. 5.

Both auctions will produce some great sales in a variety of extensions and in a wide range of auction prices. We are adding more names over the next few days that have been selected and pre-bidding is live now which will help indicate what names go into the live auction vs. the extended auction.

There will be heavy marketing starting soon to both end users as well as new and existing domain investors. There will be more PR, social network marketing and outreach for this auction than in any previous auction ever done in the industry.

If you have any questions about bidding, proxy bidding, or participating, you can send an email to us at [email protected]

    Good Luck to everyone!
