SHANE’S BIG LIST: Thursday’s Domains at Auction or Dropping on February 6th, 2014

I’m going to do a full article on helpful auction hints but I’m going to throw this one out there.  If it doesn’t make a cost difference and you can put a reserver in an auction, make your starting bid as low as possible.  You want your name to have lots of bids.  Most people use bids as one of the ways they search through names and you might as well take advantage and get the free publicity of ranking high in bids.  People feel better about spending money if they think other people agree with their choice.  Those other bids are people that agree with them.  You price will get back up to that high price you were going to set but it will bring some free publicity with it.   Here are today’s names. Today is the last day to book a slot if you’d like to list a name in Friday’s Book of 10 Domain Names for Sale.  4 slots still left.  Discount for two names.  Huge name.  A great brand for anything.  A steal at this price (under $1500) IMO  15 years old and pretty obvious what this one is going to be used for.  Yup,  a parked site with a For Sale banner at the top  Not sure a lot of value but wanted to ask someone to build this out for me I like it better as a name than an acronym.  14 years old   So many dogs in Florida and California have nicer clothes than me. No Bids.  9 years old

Worthless Random Fact: It is not possible to tickle yourself. Even the most ticklish among us do not have the ability to tickle ourselves.  I’ve been told  the Kitchen and Bath are your best investments in your house.  So I am going to think that would translate into domains as well  I love double Ds.  18 years old.  So I guess I like 18 year olds with Double Ds Not exactly the most flattering name but there are probably a few tough women out there that would love it as an email or blog name.  15 years old  Already has 200 bids.  Bring your checkbook.  Better yet bring Berkens’  aka kids will click anything if you make a site for them  Put an e in there and you have the vowels covered  Sounds like a company that’s already out there  I probably shouldn’t be putting this on here because I love it but oh well, it’s only money

  1. Lots of bids on a name is obviously good but one needs to check how many different bidders there are as well. For a name with a unsure reseller price if its up to say $1k with 20 bids however only 2 different bidders compared to a name at $1k name with 20 bids and 10 different bidders which would you choose?

    1. Burt,

I don’t care how many bidders. I know what I am willing to pay regardless of how many bids it has. I only care about price. I don’t even take the time to look at who or how many bidders there are. But as PART of my filtering of names I use bids. I also use date, number of ads and many more. I am sure many others do as well therefore having more bids, not bidders is a good thing.
