It’s time to relax for the rest of the month, celebrate another great year, and plan for an even better one ahead. I’m not a huge fan of the holidays and the expectations they bring. I prefer giving gifts without any particular reason and spending time with family just because I want to. However, as my wife wisely points out, not everyone has the freedom to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Some people rely on holidays to ensure their employers grant them time off without question. 😀
And that’s exactly why I’ll never have another employer.
I don’t mind having my life dictated, but I choose what dictates it. It’s a privilege, I know. But it doesn’t mean it’s time to slack off—it just means I’ve designed my life so I can work toward my goals on my terms, not when a boss, VC, or investor decides it’s time. I’ve been part of that grind and seen my wife and friends dread every day after a VC steps in.
If you ever see me taking VC money, it’ll mean I’m about to retire—retire for good. 😀
