Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday, June 17th, 2022

In Jan 2021, the 30-yr mortgage rate was 2.65% and the average new home price in the US was $401,700. Today the 30-yr mortgage rate is 5.78% and average new home price is $570,300. Assuming a 20% down payment, that’s a 106% increase in the monthly payment (from $1,294 to $2,671). I’ve always measured “cost” of life using average rent or mortgage cost, gasoline cost, average monthly gas cost, and the price of chicken (the most commonly purchased meat). Life has gotten costly.

If you need to borrow money you are either going to have to make a lot more money or have a lot less disposable. And its going to cost you way more than most people have been used to. That also means the price of your domains need to go up. Everything else has gone up. Have your domain prices? I am going to raise ALL my domain prices 30% this week. Will it hurt sales? Maybe but what it takes to get back into assets is much much higher than it was last year. Plain and simple, money is worth less so we need more of it.

The only thing worse than inflation is not getting your cut of the rising prices. Only being on the spending more side. As a domain owner you are the seller. Make sure you get yours

Domain of the Day: Short as short gets. Still a good price IMO under $30K

Quote of the Day:

  1. 100% agree, Shane. Thank you for sharing your views on this, Shane.

Everyone needs to listen, act upon, and share this post; because those of us old enough to remember waiting in gas lines as kids – and live through 20% interest rates – understands how brutal inflation can be on everyday life.
