Dynadot is coming for Godaddy. They are going to start with Namecheap and then move to eat Godaddy’s lunch. They have been acquiring companies like Park.io and starting to build up their expiring auction platform in an attempt to build some cash flow. Names under management have always been the metric but they don’t want the names for renewals, they want the names for expiry and add-on sales. There is literally zero margin in the most common tlds. While I love the employees of Godaddy and their amazing service, they and we all know, it is a giant ship that has no ability to change or maneuver its course and tech. It’s stuck in a slow-moving path.
I always wondered where the people formerly at Epik were going to go and I would say 75% of them went to Dynadot. It’s a made up number based on 20ish people but they moved to Epik to get away from Godaddy so my feeling is it was a contest between Namecheap and Godaddy.
Dynadot has the luxury of being smaller and having the ability to adjust and pivot. They aren’t there at all but I will say an ever-increasing number of domain investors are moving their portfolios to Dynadot. They are in the fast track pathway so there’s not much reason not to other than the customer service. I personally haven’t moved any names over but most new registrations I’ll probably do there. Anyone who reads have any comments on their experience with Dynadot?

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Dynadot is way better than the rest, in my opinion. I have every tool I need, and it just works. I always move my names at other registrars over there as soon as I can.
Owner Todd also seems like a great, humble person, who just gets on with business. Try comparing him to Rob Monster…
Dynadot is great and Godaddy is overrated
