I wrote that I would be going to Namescon but I didn’t say a few things to avoid controversy but I feel it actually needs to be said. Our conference organizers need to quit putting the same domainers, me included, on stage every single year. Trading publicity for free panelist to avoid having to pay anyone. If it cost more to bring in outside speakers then I am all for it. I loved the day when we had Ben Mezrich, Kim Kardashian, Don King, and the founder of WordPress as keynotes. Even the motivational speaker brought in one year was really really good. Money needs to be spent to give us an entertaining headliner. You see all of us, all the time, on Domain Sherpa. Add on that most domain investors work behind a computer and don’t have practice of giving great presentations. I am really afraid this conference is going to be boring and fail. To the point it could be the last. Richard Lau brought in the discount show and it may be time to go back to a higher priced, higher quality show. It’s not for the lack of effort of the people promoting the show. They are working as hard as they can with the budget they have. They are fighting technology that brings us closer on a normal day. We have domainer meetups on Zoom quite often and I get to see dozens of faces regularly. Not the same as in person but I feel like I know what is going on daily.
I hope I am pleasantly surprised. I have several friends in Austin so it is half the reason I am coming. And I need to get out of the house. I can’t sit behind this computer all day once the weather gets nice 😀

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
I agree with your overall sentiment regarding domain conference speakers. I don’t necessarily need a paid speaker, but I don’t want to see the same talking heads talking about the same thing each time. I will say that the last NamesCon in 2022 did the best job I’ve seen in a while of branching out and getting new speakers. So hopefully they are able to do the same this time.
