Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, March 6th, 2023

I wrote that I would be going to Namescon but I didn’t say a few things to avoid controversy but I feel it actually needs to be said. Our conference organizers need to quit putting the same domainers, me included, on stage every single year. Trading publicity for free panelist to avoid having to pay anyone. If it cost more to bring in outside speakers then I am all for it. I loved the day when we had Ben Mezrich, Kim Kardashian, Don King, and the founder of WordPress as keynotes. Even the motivational speaker brought in one year was really really good. Money needs to be spent to give us an entertaining headliner. You see all of us, all the time, on Domain Sherpa. Add on that most domain investors work behind a computer and don’t have practice of giving great presentations. I am really afraid this conference is going to be boring and fail. To the point it could be the last. Richard Lau brought in the discount show and it may be time to go back to a higher priced, higher quality show. It’s not for the lack of effort of the people promoting the show. They are working as hard as they can with the budget they have. They are fighting technology that brings us closer on a normal day. We have domainer meetups on Zoom quite often and I get to see dozens of faces regularly. Not the same as in person but I feel like I know what is going on daily.

I hope I am pleasantly surprised. I have several friends in Austin so it is half the reason I am coming. And I need to get out of the house. I can’t sit behind this computer all day once the weather gets nice 😀

Domain of the Day: A delicious treat and a decent brand name

Quote of the Day: “Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.” ―Vernon Sanders Law

Namejet, Sedo, and Names at Auction Catched catched this one an only has two bids The keyword is taken in 236 extensions which is enough to give this country code some bids Another tld I had no idea existed Definitely a memorable sportsbook name Has a $500 bid on it. Gets a few hundred visitors . “Migrate or move” in Latin You know I’m thinking about this one. Pending delete A lot of money being made in free No reserve. Solid name for rental site of some sort

Godaddy Domains With Bids Has AI in it and that’s good enough for four figures alone Love the name but it used to be a smoking accessories site so getting a big price Same family most likely Gambling names will always have value It’s amazing how much the numbers 365 bring at auction “Get lucky at Club 8” 1993 domain. One of the older names you’ll find at auction Taken in 20 extensions. Teeth cleaning all the way Too long to be used regularly but definitely a thing Godaddy says its worth $5K but I think its a bit negative. “Get them a “real” gift” Two last names make a great brand Yield or expensive accessories Day spa that specializes in hot stone massages Taken in 20 extensions. sounds like a mall store I feel like this won’t be illegal Should be a lot of nice looking people in this crowd Edibles are the most popular category I would eat there Taken in 14 extensions so some upgrade possibilities here

  1. I agree with your overall sentiment regarding domain conference speakers. I don’t necessarily need a paid speaker, but I don’t want to see the same talking heads talking about the same thing each time. I will say that the last NamesCon in 2022 did the best job I’ve seen in a while of branching out and getting new speakers. So hopefully they are able to do the same this time.
