Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday, April 12th, 2023

When I was just out of college, finding a job was difficult. It wasn’t like it is now; it wasn’t a matter of finding the perfect job but rather any job. I had accepted a job to work for my dad, but it was nine months away, so I had to find a temporary job. Of course, I didn’t tell them it was temporary. I wanted a job where I could learn retail because I was about to join a company that was adding retail. So I took a job at Babbages, a video store in the busiest mall in the area. However, it was a long way from where I lived; I lived next to Wrigley Field, and the mall was in the suburbs. But it was the only decent paying job around that wasn’t a “real” gig, so I took the assistant manager job.
My manager was a lifer store manager; you know exactly what he looks like: a bit overweight, belly hanging over the belt of his khaki pants, shirt a bit wrinkled, and an attempt at tying a tie. (Yes, we wore ties at a video game store; we were classy.) He turned out to be a nice guy, but I was overqualified for the job. So they sent me to various stores around the area. I was too embarrassed to tell them I didn’t have a car. My girlfriend, now wife, did, but I didn’t. So every time they sent me somewhere, I had to figure out the train, bus, cab, or another bus route.
Every day, I took a bus, train, bus, and bus to get to work, one and a half hours each way. But I did what I had to do; I didn’t think twice about it because I got stuff done, either reading or writing. But in hindsight, it was a long trip, and I’m proud of myself for doing it. I am forever grateful for my wife, who barely knew me but, on her day off, would drive me there and back, saving me 45 minutes. She didn’t know what she was getting into and drove this poor guy to a mall job as an assistant manager and then followed him to a small nursery where he made even less money.
What made me think of this was I am taking a plane to a train to an Uber to go to NYC, and although nothing is marked very well, you just figure it out. You take your time, read, and ask if you have to. Now that I’ve done it once, it’s not that hard. I will admit I got on the wrong train the first time and almost ended up going in the exact opposite direction. Oops. I got off and went to the other side of the track. It happens. I’m retired; I have nowhere to be. And who doesn’t want to go to Trenton on a beautiful spring day?

Domain of the Day: WorkPartTime.com Nice job board name. Who couldn’t use a little extra income?

Quote of the Day: “Sometimes rockbottom is your trampoline”

Namejet, Sedo, and Catched.com Names at Auction

iEDU.com Doesn’t have the juice of a dot edu but the edu gives it rep and trust. No reserve name

TAAC.com “take” or “take”. Not sure either way but no reserve so you might find a deal

RJCC.com Ending in C gives it more value. Not sure about the 2 Cs

Spotty.com The reserve is pretty high but super memorable name and worth the reserve IMO

1616.com This on the other hand probably has a reserve that will not move the name

Analiz.com Save some money by dropping the E

Vadi.com Another CVCV.com at Sedo. They keep coming up

BusinessDirect.com 1999 birthday. Like this one at this price for a B2B name

Big.sale I actually am thinking about buying this one

NFT.pe Yeah, I never heard of dot pe but I sure know about NFTs

Lalo.co They only dot co I have sold are the CVCV that rhyme with co. Of course those are the only kind I’ve owned in dot co

Godaddy Domains With Bids

PIShop.com A little play on 3.14. Getting lots of bids today and registered in 55 extensions so plenty of love this pun

ITSpecialists.com I see this more as a marketing/SEO name rather than a business name. Not getting a lot of love so others agree. Big segment but no personality

BeMore.org Nice positive mantra

DroneLawyer.com I guess there will be more and more of a need in the future as there are drones everywhere

SushiShack.com Surprised this was only taken in 6 extensions. Everything in Hawaii is a shack and lots of sushi

ACTeam.com Taken in 35 extensions. 1995 birthday

Varier.com Most results are for the Norwegian furniture company

FNXL.com I like my FN’s extra large

ElderAid.com One of the fastest growing segments. Elderly care

Movision.com Taken in 25 extensions. The Google leader is a softball and baseball catcher’s visor/helmet

AntiqueStone.com 1999 birthday. I like the name for a quarry or recycled material

SpaceAnalytics.com At $42 at press time. Has some age too. Definitely worth more than $42

BuilderEngine.com Obviously would rather have BuildEngine but this could be a ChatGPT drive coding tool

Teasa.com A teaser from Boston

MeanBrews.com I’d have a beer here

ScientificExplorer.com Sounds like a magazine that has been around 50 years

TheHorseshoe.com The “the” saves you almost a hundred thousand
