Follow the money. Don’t chase it but follow the billions of dollars moving into the crypto and NFT ecosystem. Domain investors that didn’t get into crypto or NFTs are one or more of the following
- Doing so well in domains that they have no need for more money
- Are not skilled enough to do anything but buy and sell domains
- Don’t understand why crypto or NFTs have real value so they won’t partake
- Have a full schedule and don’t have the time to do the proper preparation needed to add another asset class
- Don’t have enough money to risk losing money
- Think they are smarter than the room
If you haven’t put your toes in and don’t think you’re any of the above you’re kidding yourself. If you trade stocks then crypto and NFTs are absolutely no different. If your stock gives no dividends then the stocks that you’ve put your retirement into is no different than a cryptocurrency or NFT minus the “art”. If a stock makes a billion dollars profit there is zero attachment to that stock that says it should be worth more. It is merely a perceived value. It is assumed that it is worth more because they are doing well. You get no profit. Your ownership is a DAO. You get voting rights and that’s it. NFTs have the EXACT perceived value. The Bored Ape Yacht Club token or ape is a representation of value. They will have a token that essentially is a share of stock and actually may have some added utility. The difference is there are only 10,000 original shares. 30,000 B shares were added to the float in the form of Dogs and Mutants and all Ape holders got that. I received a $16K dog and a $65K mutant (present-day value) as a dividend. Way more than any stock ever gave me
There are a ton of shitty NFTs and crypto coins out there. There are even more shitty stocks out there. Just like hunting down the next good stock I am hunting down the next great NFT. I also have the ability to create as we did with the Trippies and will be doing with Joe Ruiz’s T.O.T.A. This adds another level. This is the way for the next wave. I am not saying get out of domains. Domains are the original digital asset and have more value than ever. Only saying that to ignore crypto and NFTs is missing a possible opportunity to add value to your portfolio. In Trippies alone if you would have minted and sold today you would have doubled your investment or more. That was in two months. I never promise anything but doubling your stock or even domain investment in a few months would be a nice return. Is it gambling? It’s all gambling because you are relying on info, actions, and perception by the crowd how that affects asset price. Unless you control the outcome its gambling. But like domains, it only takes a couple winners to pay for the losers because the return can be so high.
