I’ve talked several times here about my feelings about Handshake domains. While it may have been built to give the power back to the people, its controlled by a very small number of people. There are a few people that have HUGE amounts of names and were in early so were pennies on the dollar. I also feel that as long as you have to pay a renewal fee then it is no longer decentralized. Subdomains on most of the sales meant no decentralization although a few have now been set up as truly decentralized. The main reason I don’t believe in them is there is absolutely nothing stopping someone else from doing the exact same thing. That’s the beautify of decentralization. It was meant to be copied and improved. So someone can and will improve on Handshake names.
I didn’t really believe in ENS names in whole. Great for using as wallet addresses though. Love the simple concept and keeps people from typing it in wrong. Add in they just released a token that they gave to all domain owners. We all essentially got $2500 PER NAME. Free money. A gift. While I think the coin could go higher I took the huge gift and sold it. I can’t pass up a couple free Mac Book Pros with the M1 chip dropped in my lap. I will have no regrets if the price goes up. I will only have new computers
