Greetings from Colorado. As soon as the weather starts getting hot in the Midwest, we head to the mountains; it’s that time of year. I also need to get some mountain training in over the next four weeks to have a shot at finishing a few mountain runs and the 14ers I’d like to climb.
I’ve been home for eight weeks, and I was already ready to head back to the mountains or Arizona. I’ve said this a million times, but now that I can work remotely, life is amazing. I loved the nursery, but having to go in six days a week and deal with employees and customers ten hours a day was brutal on the psyche. I can still work with customers, have my meetings, and still sneak out and hit the trails.
In the mountains, I find my soul. I look at my yearly sleep schedule and see that some of my deepest sleep and best REM cycles happen in the mountains. It should be contrary because of the elevation, but I think my body just loves the cool nights.
I am prepared to feel like crap for the next few days. Moving from 700 feet to 11,000 feet is a little tough at first, which is another reason why I prefer 8,000 feet, it makes a huge difference. We are looking to move down if we can find a house. The market is 100% a buyer’s market, but smaller mountain towns don’t have a ton of inventory.
Be ready for a lot of pictures and deep reflections in the coming weeks
Quote of the Day: “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.” — John Muir
