Busy day today, so a short opening. I recorded another Sherpa episode today and had some great conversations on domain pricing and value. Drew does a great job of laying out the three types of buyers who will give you the best price. If you don’t fit into those categories out of the gate, your sales price and sell-through rate are significantly lower.
One of the categories is companies that have recently raised funds, and his past experience tells us that the perfect domain for them costs between 0.5% and 1.5% of the raise. This can equate to a million dollars on a $100M raise.
“You don’t determine the price of a domain by how much money they have.” Actually, you do, because the size of the company determines the value of the domain. Domains amplify, and the amplification of a $200M company is worth much more than that of a $5M company. It is worth more to them. I don’t think anyone would argue against the fact that an asset that can improve a business is priced based on the financial gain that improvement provides to the company.
Quote of the Day: “The value of an asset is not what it is, but what it can do for the person who owns it.” — Thomas Sowell
Domain of the Day: Charge.org Will sell for $25k+ IMO

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
