Elliot Silver made a good point the other day about not counting a sale until the last payment is made. What set it off was Atom sale graphics people post that don’t show whether it’s a full purchase or Lease to Own. Afternic is the same.
I argued it’s still a sale but not a sale paid in full. The comp is weighed differently. There’s some value there but it’s not the same as a lump-sum deal. Legally the name is still yours until the last payment and Atom keeps you as the owner so if a WIPO or legal issue comes up it’s on you to deal with.
Sales aggregator sites don’t count them either, but I can guarantee there’s bad data because it’s hard to catch everything. All in all, the sales people share on X are still helpful and I learn a lot from the info. Like all info, take it with a grain of salt and don’t let one sale dictate your pricing.
Quote of the Day: “Without data you’re just another person with an opinion. Without good data you’re worse off because bad data leads to bad decisions.” -W. Edwards Deming
Domain of the Day:HoneyMarket.com Of course I’m bidding but price is getting pretty sweet

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
