1. Porno.com sold for $8,888,888
- Heck of a sale for Rick Schwartz, who picked up the domain in 1997 for $42k, making it a decent (!) return. In addition to the sales price, Rick told TheDomains that he earned “well in excess of over $10 million via parking and redirects” since he acquired the domain. It’s currently under privacy protection, but the DN Journal sales recap from last year stated the domain was sold to a Prague-based porn website operator. The site that is live now is not-safe-for-work, as you’d expect. This site is also the traffic leader for the week, with an Alexa rank near 120,000.
2. Connaught.com sold for $250,000
- Just a simple placeholder is live, which you can see below, and there is no additional information on the site. According to the company’s LinkedIn profile, they are in the financial services business, and have between 1 and 10 employees. This article states the company is an investment banking firm, with a focus on internet and new media companies.
3. KHC.com sold for $120,000
- This acquisition is the home of a China-based real estate company. Per Google Translate, “Kaihua Group is a holding properties focused on the development and operational management of commercial real estate investment institutions, the core business covers the high-end office buildings, hotels and professional markets, and other fields.“
4. Ignite.com sold for $112,500
- Their placeholder site says they’re coming soon, and a health-related site appears to be in the works. The domain is owned by Sammy Capuano of Silicon Innovations, Inc.
5. 144.com sold for $110,000
- Owned by an individual in China, the site that is live appears to be a Chinese-language parked page.
6. 8788.com sold for $106,000
- Domain doesn’t resolve. Owned by an individual in China.
7. Mobike.com sold for $47,400
- Domain doesn’t resolve. Owned by an individual in China
8. Viciniti.com sold for $36,200
- No site resolves. Owned by a company named Dean Evans & Associates, which controls the nice domain DEA.com. They applied for a trademark for “viciniti” in 2015 for “Downloadable computer software for scheduling the use of shared workplace rooms and supplies”.
9. Kantu.com sold for $20,000
- Owned by an individual in China, and I have no idea what’s happening with their site. According to Wikipedia, Kantu is an ancient style of dance, but that’s not what I see in the site below. The site has an Alexa rank near 1.6 million.
10. Everywear.com sold for $17,100
- This is a site that will help you with personal recommendations on your wardrobe. “We are a team of magazine editors who’ve worked in fashion for years. Sign up for a session with us and in no time you’ll have the ultimate wardrobe that goes easily from work to weekend, day to night. Our editors identify your personal style and then build outfits for you from the clothes you already own. It’s easy, free, takes less than 30 minutes, and you do it all from home.” Alexa rank near 5.5 million.
