With the advent of domain blogs and domain news sites there is a plethora of sources for up to the minute domain news.  But over the last 10 years there have been a few special moments that weren’t covered in the depth that other larger stories were given. Here are ten moments in domain history that you may have missed.

March 24th, 2004 Rich Schwartz takes advantage of NetSol’s 100 year renewal and locks down iamthedomainking.com for 99 more years.

March 30, 2005 Bill Karamouzis sells addicting games for millions and throws in the last six letters of his last name for an extra $100K

Sept. 4th 2005 Morgan Linton is a depressed 345 lb man running a badminton summer camp when he has lap band surgery and loses 210 pounds that provides him with the drive and energy to create the Linton Empire

August 12th 2007 Ron Jackson’s hair is messed up by a 60 mph wind and he uses a curse word for the first time in 10 years.

July 17th, 2007 Patrick Ruddel’s wife tells him to get out of the “damn kitchen” and gives him the idea for his website DamnKitchen which he eventually shortens to dnkitchen.com  After falling in love with a young Cherokee woman he changes the site’s name to ChiefPatrick but the NCAA makes him change the name to ChefPatrick

January 11th, 2008 Adam Strong shows up to a domain event shaven marking the first time he’s seen in public without stubble

July 16th, 2010 Fusible decides that tweetups is not going to succeed as a online chat room for parrot lovers and moves over to a parking page

Jan 12th, 2011 Anunt sells an ad to flower shop in Hindsdale IL for $5 marking the first official income for flowers.mobi or any dot mobi site for that matter

Feb 15, 2011 Sedo changes to ajax and redesigns front page so that users can easily forget the upcoming auctions, giving domainers one less thing to worry about.

April 16,2011 Bob Parsons raises a baby elephant to adulthood and hires 2000 people to stomp Zimbabwe farmland in hopes of bringing village back to original conditions before the hunt
