“Don’t Water Dead Plants” became my slogan for 2021. I decided to stop working on things and people that weren’t giving back or a good use of my energy and time. I realized I have X amount of time and energy and wasting it on things that either didn’t give back or I wasn’t able to give back, needed to be abandoned. I realize that many things in life require a lot of time until it fruits. But I don’t have the time to put into things that the fruit isn’t good enough to reward the time. I am surrounded by amazing people and have so many great friends and family, that making less effort on the fringes let me put more effort into building those relationships. It has been a huge revelation.
It’s not to be confused with me being super busy in April and May. I have always disappeared those months. Those that know me, know I pretty much work and sleep for two months. When its over I’m going to make a better effort reaching out to those that have been good friends and let everything else run its course. All of this may seem a bit sappy but I think great things come from having healthy relationships around you. From concentration on good projects instead of throwing darts. You perform better. You sleep better. You smile more. You live longer. I’d like to do all of those if possible.
